Covering 333,000 acres, the park features hiking trails that pass through volcanic craters, rainforests and deserts. Also within the park is a museum, a walk-in lava tube, petroglyphs and two active volcanoes: Maunaloa and Kilauea.

• Go hiking or join an eco tour. These activities are available on most islands and can see you go horseback riding, driving an ATV and taking an air tour. 
• Embrace the history and culture. A visit to the Pearl Harbor site is a must do and a trip to the Polynesian Cultural Center in Oahu is a nice cultural experience.
• Swim with dolphins. The animals you get to swim with on Big Island are from the wild.

• Waikiki Beach - Known for its waves, Waikiki is the perfect beach for newbie surfers. There are even several surf schools that operate at beaches, hotels and around the island of Oahu if you want some lessons. 
• Haleakala National Park - Trekking down to see the massive bowl of Haleakala is an experience on its own. The landscape is unlike any other you'll see: a barren terrain that also serves as home to rare plants, birds and insects. 
• Waimea Canyon - Called the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” Waimea is a wonder in that you get to experience different microclimates as you make your way through. At sea level, you experience hot conditions which then get cooler as you get to the Kokee forest.
