Ladakh - Holiday Tour Packages

Ladakh is a region in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that extends from China's Kunlun mountain range to the Himalayan mountain range. With its elevated location (much of the area is over 9,800 feet), it's considered to be the highest plateau in Kashmir. Its high altitude translates to extreme temperatures; Ladakh can reach a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius during summer, while it can plunge down to -35 degrees Celsius in winter. The region might be one of the sparsely populated areas in the state, but this doesn't mean that it's not worth a visit. In fact, it's the perfect place for those who'd like to relax and commune with nature during their Ladakh holiday. It's also ideal for those who are planning to travel to India but want to avoid the crowds and go to less-explored areas.

Places to visit in Ladakh

  • Thiskey Gompa - Gompa means “monastery” in Ladakh, and Thiskey Gompa is one of the biggest monasteries in the region. It includes a prayer chamber, a rooftop library, and a museum as well as more modern facilities that cater to tourists, like a restaurant and a hotel.
  • Visit the gompa in the morning to observe the monks as they chant their prayers; after the ceremony, have breakfast in the restaurant, explore the monastery's ancient structures, and take a look at the artifacts in the museum.
  • Khardung La - Khardung La is a mountain pass that has an elevation of more than 5,000 meters and is open to bicycles, motorbikes, cars, and trucks. Many people say that it's the highest motorable pass in the world, although some disagree. Along the road, you'll see hundreds of prayer flags and find shops that sell shirts and other souvenirs.
