A.

Starting from your hotel in Leh the road for Nubra Valley climbs steadily and crosses Khardung La pass located at a height of 5602 mts (18,379ft) ( It is also claimed to be the world’s highest motorable road). If you wish to return the same day the travelling would be too long and tiring due to the height of this pass and distance. Practically it is not possible to do a same day trip to Nubra Valley during your Ladakh Holiday package. Nubra Valley is a beautiful place with outstanding natural beauty. This is also the place where you can do a desert safari or a camel safari. It is highly recommended to stay for atleast a night in Nubra Valley in your Ladakh holiday package if you have time.

Q.

Why is it important to acclimatize on arrival in Ladakh?

A.

The region of Ladakh is located on a very high altitude. Specially for the visitors travelling by flight from cities of India like Delhi (Most of the direct flight are from Delhi) to Leh it is a sudden change in environment on arrival. This change might result in headache, dizziness or sometimes acute mountain sickness (AMS). To avoid this, no activities are kept on the day of arrival in Ladakh holiday package and it is advisable to take rest and acclimatize. If you feel good, you may visit local markets and Shanti Stupa in the evening on Day 01.
