Beautiful city, but the majority of headphone portals don’t work so was sat in silence for the majority of the time, may as well have gotten a service bus.

Bus stops are not very well signposted. That’s an understatement. We asked for directions to the stop and kept being told “5 minutes”. After walking for nearly an hour, we found out that we’d passed 3 bus stops, which were signed by a red “50” - who knew that meant “City Sightseeing” (we certainly didn’t!). Once, eventually, on the bus, as others have said, at least 50% of the headphone sockets didn’t work. But you didn’t miss much, as the commentary was pretty poor anyway. Very expensive for what it was, you’ll see more of Palma walking, so save your money!

Poor. In fact a complete waste of money. Let me show you our e mail interaction with the company. 30th March. Palma. Boarded after long wait. Family of 4, separated as absolutely no seats. I sat on my own when my family were sat separately on the bottom of the bus. My headphone socket did not work. It was cramped. We got on at stop 5, couldn't get off soon enough. Could not see a thing as the view was obscured by stickers/adverts on the bus. We got off at stop number 9 and walked back to the centre. So we paid a lot of money to sit on the back of a cramped bus, separated from my young children for a journey that took 20 mins. Clearly not enough buses, the headphone portals did not work and a complete waste of our time and our money. I have not left a review as yet, as I wanted you to have the chance to respond before I do so. Paying so much money for 20 minutes is an embarrassment to the company. We have been on City sightseeing buses throughout Europe, but completely regret this one in Palma. Regards. After providing necessary proof of booking and further informed them of how dirty the bus was including maps, ear phone wrappers and ear phones, their response was:- Dear Steve, After having made the appropriate inquiries, it has been decided that your complaint will not be refundable. If you are still on the island, we can offer you new tickets to compensate you for the inconvenience. I look forward to hearing from you and remain at your disposal. Best regards, Isa Sánchez My response was:- We are still on the island and not happy to take you up on your offer. No reason to re visit. The service you provided was a farce and you should actually listen to your customers. Our trip was on an over loaded and filthy bus, with no views, with staff that were too willing to cram on as many as possible and not be concerned about the level of service. No, we won't be taking you up on your poor offer. Regards I thought more about the communication with the company and how blunt their retort was, and forwarded this. To date, no response. And incidentally, not once did I ask for a refund/reimbursement in my e mail. Also, not once did you apologise in your e mail. All I wanted was acknowledgement and an apology. You failed on both of these counts.

To sum up the delights of this tour - I’d have to go for ‘disappointing’. So a Monday morning in late March might not be the optimum time for a sight seeing trip, but surely the tour guides could have provided a little more pre-boarding information. The knowledge that the otherwise beautiful Cathedral, is actually closed to non-church goers until April, might not have prevented us getting on board, but it might have set the tone. The die was cast when we were actually told in advance, that the apparently stunning Castle, sadly, was also shut. Hey ho, we do enjoy a look around new cities, so upwards and onwards. We did eventually hop off at the otherwise nondescript Royal Palace. I say nondescript as we could only judge from the outside. Surprise, surprise…it was shut. Only open to the painters who were doing sterling work on the main entrance. Nice. Didn’t get a photo however. Still, the commentary did provide such valuable information as the years that some streets were constructed, African princes who had once lived there, and the ‘fact’ that “this is a castle”. So, if you get your kicks from car parks, busy roads, unimaginative graffitied walls, or looking into bus level apartments, this is the tour for you! (Especially on a Monday in March). There might not be a big red bus in Soller, but it’s vastly more interesting!

The city sightseeing bus is a must-do in Palma! We found Palma city to be quite limited, so the bus tour allows tourists to see the best bits. We joined the tour just across the road from Palma train station and purchased our tickets onboard. Prices were reasonable. There were loads of stops along the way, including a lovely drive up to Bellver Castle. The cathedral view from the bus was beautiful, which was when we departed the bus. The tour was informative and discussed the history of the city, but we felt that there was not much more to say about Palma city (not faulting City Sightseeing at all, just an observation about Palma City). The tour is definitely worthwhile.
