Designed in Art Nouveau style, the complex includes 13 baths as well as steam rooms, saunas and a Roman-style swimming pool.

What Can You Expect?

Mineral-rich hot springs from deep within Gellert Hill feed Gellert Spa, located on the right bank of the Danube, where an amazing bath culture has developed in Budapest since Turkish times. Constructed in 1918 and decorated with numerous Art Nouveau furnishings, Gellert Spa is famous for its main hall with glass roof, elaborate mosaic walls and detailed stained-glass windows.

Choose from 13 indoor and outdoor pools filled with water from thermal springs. A natural temperature of 170 degrees F (77 Celsius), the thermal water is cooled down to different temperatures at the spa and contains minerals like calcium and magnesium, which are said to be good for your joints! You can also make use of steam chambers, saunas and cold plunge, or dip into the Roman-style swimming pool or outdoor adventure and wave pool.

  • It is forbidden to wear swimsuits that are covering the full body.

  • For using the swimming pool you must wear a bathing cap, they are available for purchase at the venue.
  • It is mandatory to wear flip flops, in case yo do not have one you must purchase them. (They are not available for rent due to hygene reasons.)
  • Spa is not recommended for pregnant women

The baths are ok and I suspect at times great, but please please note that if you don’t have flip flops and have to buy them there they will charge about €25. I then discovered there were ones for €12.50. I asked if I could exchange and the women at the desk said as I had paid on a card I could not have a refund or exchange. I queried this and said I didn’t think that was right, but was told they couldn’t refund and let my buy the other shoes. This ruined the trip and when we found the wave pool was closed and the whole place was poorly sign posted and organised it was a real shame. So for the baths itself please please pay more attention to your visitors, it really would make all the difference.

An excellent relaxing day at a beautiful venue. We came out afterwards fully recharged and invigorated and fully enjoyed our visit and would recommend it to family and friends that were visiting Budapest.

Sitting outside in the lovely thermal waters was a very therapeutic experience. The outside pool is very small and was very crowded however. The outside area is grubby and very tired. We couldn’t use the indoor pool as we had no swimming hats (Didn’t know one was needed until we got to the pool) Also there were no towels available to rent so we had to buy towels! The price is far too high for what you get! I would not visit this particular baths again. Changing cabins are very small but are secure and you can leave your belongings in there!

Amazing 5*! Have a great selection of pools! Favourite one in all of Budapest. Tip. Get there early to avoid BIG crowds. Won’t be disappointed.

Great day at Gellert Spa. Treated myself to a spa day while in Budapest. It was a great experience with an outdoor pool and terrace where I spent the morning and indoor hot pools where I spent the afternoon relaxing in the hot baths. Locker was included in the entrance fee, but if going again I would be tempted to pay extra for a cabin as changing space in the general locker area was limited.
