Stop At: Old South Carriage Company, 14 Anson St, Charleston, SC 29401-2028

Our stable is where your tour experience will begin and end. After checking in you can say hi to our draft horses, watch an educational video, purchases a bottle of water, or use our restroom. As you board your carriage via our inclined ramp / easy loading platform, your certified tour guide will greet you.

Duration: 15 minutes

Pass By: Charleston City Market, 188 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29401-3155

After leaving our stable, your carriage will stop at the City gate near the Market, where a route is assigned by the City of Charleston. Our industry is governed by this system in order to disperse the carriage traffic more evenly throughout the city. Your tour will cover about 30 blocks and 300+ years of history. Though specific landmarks vary by route, all tours pass by sights that give Charleston its unique charm – custom wrought iron gates, well-manicured gardens, historic mansions with picturesque piazzas, and the many church steeples of the “Holy City.”

Perfect way to see the best parts of the historic areas in Charleston. Our guide, Paul was phenomenal! I am a retired history teacher and his knowledge and humor were greatly appreciated! Our sweet horse Ben deserves to be Equine of the month! Do not hesitate book this tour!

Janice and her horse Leo were the best ever! Her historical presentation was enlightening and informative. A lady with true southern charm and Leo had the walk of Fred Astaire.

Austin was very knowledgeable and was willing to answer any questions we posed to him about the city. Moose, our beautiful equine, was also enjoyable. He had us laughing when he galloped to catch a traffic light as it turned yellow, then slowed way down after it turned red so the cross traffic had to wait and watch his beautiful gait as he crossed the street. Glad we took the trip!

Star, the youngest tour guide at the Old South Carriage Company, was also the best! Being born and raised in Charleston, she knew all about the history and architecture of the area. Also, she was a great carriage driver and Ricky, our very handsome horse, should be the next "employee of the month!"
