We started with the 15 day private tour and customized it a bit by adding an overnight in the desert and a day trip to Alexandria. The time we had in Cairo was fantastic. The guide was so knowledgeable about Egyptian history and how to best navigate the larger tour groups in popular locations. We had an uneventful flight to Aswan where we were picked up by another very knowledgeable guide. He took us to Abu Simbel, the Aswan dam, the unfinished obelisk, and went with us on the Nile cruise to Luxor. Once there he took us to the valley of the Kings and saw us off for our trip over the mountains to Hurghada. We stayed in a resort without a guide for a couple of days. While there we were driven to a snorkeling day trip to see the coral in the Red Sea. We also did a "safari" on ATVs in the nearby desert. That part was not really worth it for our group. We waited around in the ATV home base more than we drove ATVs. Then 9 of us were piled into the back of a truck for a trip to a Beduin village. In the village we took at 5 minute camel ride, saw a women cook traditional bread and then were told we would have to wait 2 hours for a barbeque. We convinced the local tour guide we wanted to go back. We flew from Hurghada back to Cairo for a wonderful visit with our first guide. He took us to all of the big museums, out to the desert, and up to Alexandria. We mentioned we had not had the best seafood at the Red Sea so he took us to a wonderful seafood restaurant in Alexandria. Our last day was spent visiting old Cairo. We saw many mosques and the market. Since we didn't want to shop, our guide took us to a local Christian church that had sheltered the holy family and a nearby synagogue to show the multi-cultural nature of Egypt.

Egypt Tours Portal came through with all of their advertised package. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. The accommodations were great and the drivers were reliable. Our guide for Cairo was Ahmed who was great and our guide during the Nile trip was Mahmoud who was extraordinary. Mahmoud took us through several of the most memorable sites and told us the history in engaging ways. I’m physically limited but he made sure I was comfortable.

For the best tour with Abanoub, you can start your day by visiting the Hanging Church, one of Cairo's oldest churches. Abanoub will provide insightful historical information and guide you through this iconic landmark. Afterward, head to the Egyptian Museum with Abanoub, where you can explore ancient artifacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun. Abanoub will share fascinating stories and details about the museum's collections. Next, experience the vibrant atmosphere of the Bazaar (Khan El Khalili) with Abanoub as your guide. He'll help you navigate through the maze of shops and stalls, where you can shop for souvenirs, spices, and other local goods. Finally, end your tour at a local cafe, where Abanoub can recommend authentic Egyptian dishes and beverages while providing insights into Egyptian culture and daily life. With Abanoub as your guide, you'll have an enriching and memorable experience exploring Cairo's cultural and historical highlights.

Our guide Ahmed Rezk met us at the airport, warmly welcomed us to Egypt and proceeded to guide us flawlessly through an amazing first night and day in Cairo/Giza. He talked to us about our agenda later in our tour and suggested we switch the days for a couple of items for a better experience. We made the correct choice to follow his advice for the rest of our trip and he never steered us wrong. So our first night we went to the light show at the Giza pyramid complex. The lights and the setting are wonderful, however, the sound show is like a 1950’s news reel and feels very outdated. (Being tired and jet lagged, I found it too long and not worth it.) The next day Ahmed Rezk got us to the Giza complex before it got too crowded. He warned us clearly not to interact with people trying to sell us things or take our pictures and that advice served us well for the entire trip. He was extremely knowledgeable about the pyramids and sphinx. Ahmed also is a trained photographer, so he knew all the best places to take pictures and which camera settings to use on our iPhones. He took many special photos of our group at all the major sites we visited. The camel ride at the pyramids was fun and worth the view. We also visited the temple and tombs at Sakkara. These are great because you can actually go inside and see some of the painted decorations on the walls.
