Stop At: Maligne Adventures, Jasper, Jasper National Park, Alberta T0E 1E0 Canada

Your guide will personally greet you at your Jasper hotel where you will join a small group on board a comfortable minibus. As you meander slowly down the valley, you will gaze out large windows while passing stunning scenic views of the mountains and surrounding wilderness. You will visit seasonal locations, selected daily by your guide allowing you the best chances of seeing wildlife in its natural habitat.

The evening is an ideal time for wildlife viewing with animals being most active in the late afternoon to dusk, so be sure to keep an eagle eye for anything that moves. Capture your memories through photographs from either inside the minibus or occasionally by a short walk at the discretion of your guide. Along the way you will discover valuable insights into the challenges of managing and protecting wildlife within the National Park. Your professional local guide will be eager to answer your questions, as they passionately share the magic of Jasper's wild side, bringing the stories of the animals to life.

95% of tours are successful at spotting wildlife. However, while encounters are frequent, everyday is unique. Jasper National Park is a natural environment and wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

The tour will finish with complimentary drop-off back at your accommodation.

  • This tour is not recommended for young children: The Wildlife Tour is typically geared more towards adults, providing educational commentary along the way. While wildlife sightings are frequent, the experience differs significantly from a zoo visit. Due to the unpredictable nature of wild animals, sightings occur intermittently during the 3-hour tour and vary from day to day. Based on our observations, young children often become restless as there are no scheduled stops on this vehicle-based tour. Therefore, we recommend a minimum age of 5 years. Although not recommended, children and infants under 5 years old are welcome, provided a seat is purchased for them at the child rate (all passengers regardless of age are required to be allocated a seat on the bus). For those bringing infants, we recommend bringing a baby carrier which can be secured with the provided seat belts on our buses.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund

We visited in early September when wildlife was active so we saw lots of elk and deer but the highlight was the bear who was on his way into town for an evening forage. To be up close to such an animal was a real privilege. Note though that you never get off the minibus to view the animals which I think is fair as he animals welfare should come first. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable so the three or so hours flew by. He went out of his way to find wildlife for us and didn't disappoint. I would recommend this trip as a good way of seeing more of the area surrounding Jasper first and foremost. The fact we saw so many animals even surprised our guide somewhat so I think we were just lucky to a certain extent but it was an excellent experience as a result. Maligne Adventures is a good company being reliable and well-organised so I would definitely recommend them too.

Given this tour is based on knowledge of usual stomping grounds for animals and luck, I really appreciated that the guide did everything they could with the allotted hours driving us to try and find all animals —and I was surprised by how long they gave us to stop and take photos. Much appreciated!

An amazing way to get up close and personal with brown bears. The small groups and topless jeeps are just perfect for viewing. We saw 7 bears and I highly recommend this tour!

We did a number of trips and activities on our holiday and this was a disappointment. There are no guarantees that a trip can find wildlife but this tour didn't try very hard to locate it. Like some of the other reviews mention, it only followed roads (including Maligne Lake) that you can easily drive yourself if you have a car. There were only a couple of opportunities to get out of the bus that was to look at the view and an unused bald eagles nest. We saw lots of elk but the majority were by the roads close to Jasper. The following evening, we drove ourselves round some roads close to Jasper. Having parked for a while saw elk and a bear. The next day, as we drove towards our cruise on Maligne Lake, we saw another bear. This may be a worthwhile trip If you don't have a car.
