Overall we enjoyed the excursion. However there were a few disappointing aspects. We had exchanged messages beforehand with the manager of the excursion provider including a late request for a change to the programme. However there was no response to that and the request had not been passed on to our guide. The guide was a very nice young student doing the job part time as he prepared for his exams. He was reasonably knowledgeable but not at the level of all the other guides we had during our shore excursions. There was no visit to the cashew factory as it was a Sunday BUT we were not informed in advance that this would be the case.

The guide was an amazing, fantastic young educated lady. The places she took us were unexpectedly wonderful. She explained and showed us places that were perfect for the amount of time and walking. We were very lucky to have this guide. Her education was superb, and she understood exactly what we like. We were very impressed with this guide that made the visit to Mangalore the best visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed Nelson. His English was great and his enthusiasm to share his knowledge was great. He made sure we were taking in all of the sites and our day ended with a delicious lunch at his suggested restaurant. Mangalore was an interesting stop.

Mangalore city and the surrounding areas are very clean. The locals are very honest and helpful. There are numerous temples, churches and beaches. Near Hattiyangadi, one can see the ocean on one side of the road and a river on the other side. The 1000 pillar Jain temple is very old and also has statues of Jain Thirthankars in semi precious, precious stones, silver & gold. The Gometeshwar statue at Karkala is 42 feet in height and is also worth visiting
