Hop into your own 2-seater convertible that navigates itself and provides narration about landmarks along the way, including Monterey’s historical buildings and beautiful ocean vistas. The talking scooter car tells you where to go, from downtown, Lake El Estero and Cannery Row all the way to Pacific Grove’s butterfly sanctuary and Asilomar State Beach.

What Can You Expect?

Pick up your 2-seater Sea Car at the Portola Hotel & Spa, just a 5-minute walk from Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey. Simple to drive and park, this zany scooter car allows you to zip around downtown streets and out to the coast to cruise along one of the most scenic drives in the United States.

Drive to Monterey's Lake El Estero after taking in historical points of interest downtown. Whip past ocean bluffs to the rocky coves of Asilomar State Beach and the pretty coastal town of Pacific Grove, home to the Monarch Grove butterfly sanctuary. You can follow a designated itinerary or make up your own adventure.

Note, Price is based on per car. Maximum 2 passengers per car; select 1 Adult per car at time of booking.

It was a BLAST! We arrived shortly after our scheduled time of noon, but to no worry! We were allowed a few extra minutes to help make up for it! The staff was extremely informative and helpful. Tipped him $10 like more people should.

Was able to see my grandmother’s summer home and revisit the beach I enjoyed a a teenager! Totally enjoyed the views of the ocean!

The Sea Cars are SO MUCH FUN!!! You can really experience the beautify of Monterey from these zippy little cars. Martha was extremely helpful and patient with us which helped our fun time even that much more fun! Bring a jacket as it gets a bit “breezy” as you take the spectacular ride along the coast toward the golf course. My friend and I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone!

It was a wonderful ride in the open air, seeing all the beautiful sights and stunning vistas. We got to see Cannery and Fisherman's Wharf. It was really so much fun and would recommend for any age!

My wife and I did the 3 hour tour and could not have asked for a better time. The entire rental process was super easy and the staff was very helpful when we asked for recommendations on where to go. The self guided tours were an awesome way to get to know the area while soaking in the beauty of Monterey/Pacific Grove. You won't regret taking these little cars out for a spin! We'd love to come back and take out the Roadster next time. Thanks Sea Car tours for making our trip to Monterey so memorable!
