Overview

It’s all about having a blast in this 2-hour Bollywood dance class, taught at a local dance academy in Delhi. Slip into a costume and get your groove on as you learn the moves to three to four different Indian dance styles, including Bhangra. Practice the choreography with an experienced instructor, lunch and round-trip private transport included. You'll even receive a privately shared YouTube link to watch your festively dressed class in action. It won't be hard to spot yourself on film: The small-group class is limited to 15, ensuring a personalized experience.

After private hotel pickup in Delhi, arrive at the dance academy for your approximate 2-hour workshop. Once you change into the Indian costumes provided, your instructor shares information about the cultural origins and history of each dance form you’re taught.

In addition to Bollywood favorites, you’ll get a crash course in Bhangra (Punjabi-style dance), Garbha and Dandiya (Gujarati folk dances). Each of the dance genres is taught for approximately 20 minutes, covering about 25 seconds of choreography on a popular song.

Following a brief break, put together all of the steps in a fun, hip-shaking routine as you show off your new dance moves in your Bollywood attire.

Want to show off your new moves to friends and family back home? Within two weeks, you’ll receive a private YouTube channel link to an approximate 2-minute edited clip of your session.

After all that moving and shaking, stop at a nearby Indian restaurant for lunch (if option selected). Finally, you will be dropped back to your Delhi hotel in your private transport.

Please note: Dances are choreographed based on your ability to pick up the moves. The instructors gauge your skill level and fitness.

My cousin and I are both female, in our 60’s. We were so excited to go to this “class”! Our driver picked us up from the hotel as planned. In route, he gave us each a kurta (that was slit up the sides to our waist) with no pants and was made very cheaply. This was our “costume”. Upon arrival to the “Delhi Dance Academy”, we were immediately concerned as it was in a not so nice part of town (down a muddy side street with many men lurking around). The driver led us down a narrow staircase to a filthy room with peeling wallpaper, stains everywhere, a “front desk” and three men (two were sitting on filthy couches and just stared at my cousin and me). The “instructor” told us to change into our costumes, in a filthy dressing room. We expressed that there were no pants and the driver said that that was all he had been given. Needless to say, we left our slacks on. After dressing, we were instructed to sit on the filthy couch and told to fill out a form with all kinds of information, including our passport number, which we refused to do. We asked when the others were arriving for our class and were told that we were the only students and that the guy behind the counter was our instructor. Again, the other two men sat on the couch and just stared. We were VERY uncomfortable and told the instructor that we signed up for a “class” and were not comfortable being two women with three men. We asked him to contact our driver. We went back into the filthy “dressing room” and changed back into our clothes. The driver came to get us and handed me his cell phone. A man was on the phone and asked me what the problem was. I shared our discomfort and concerns. He said that he would be happy to have us return for a “group class” at 7pm. I told him that there was NO WAY that we were returning to Thai location after dark! I told him that I expected a full refund of $225.58.

The class was amazing, just the two of us and the two instructors and they tailored it for us when we couldn’t do certain moves! They helped us so much we picked it up quickly and had such a great time laughing with them as well! They explained the culture and meaning of the dances and made us feel so welcome! Both such talented dancers! And gave us our saris to take home afterwards as well!

A great experience, highly recommend! I was late and they still provided the whole class, a traditional outfit, and a welcome ceremony.

We had a great experience learning to dance with our Indian teacher! We learned 3 short choreographies. One was folk, one bollywood and one something else, ha ha!

Wow! What a fun time I had with dance choreographer Manish Saini. In 2 hours he taught a non dancer, three Indian dances. It was a great work out. I was collected from my hotel by a very chatty driver called Mr Kalsi with whom I felt very safe as a lone woman tourist. He was very interesting, informing me of many local Indian festivals and pointing out local sites of interest. Arriving on time, I changed into the outfit provided by the studio and was given a very Indian welcome. Manish took me through, piece by piece, elements of each dance and when he thought I was ready, instructed the video to commence. He was very encouraging and great fun. The two hours went by very quickly. It was time to leave, but not without a little gift of a snack, to boost my energy levels. I was the take for lunch where I ate super tasty naan breads ad exquisite Dhal. There was an extensive menu though, but this was enough for me. Cant rate this highly enough. If there was a downside for me, it would be that it was too short and whilst it was fantastic to have one to one tuition I think it would be great fun to do it in a group. It is a must do and I will be back
