It was an amazing experience to learn the history of the slaves who built oak alley. The tour guide was respectful on crediting the slaves who built this foundation. It’s a beautiful land with a sad history. I’ll cherish this experience.

The bus driver was very informative on the way out. The plantation house was the main part of the tour and did not address slavery. There were static displays away from the house. There was a movie they encouraged everyone to view, but the tour did not allow time to see both the house and the movie. it was either or. If you're looking for history on slavery, there are better tours to be found, I'm sure.

The Oak Alley tour was perfect for us. A driver in a van picked us up between 8-830am at our hotel. It takes about an hour to drive there. It didn't take the whole day and the tour of the house (tickets included) was great and was the only part that was planned. We had time to look at the other buildings including a snack shop for coffee and praline. We learned about sugar production and other history including what slave quarters were like and how the plantation slaves lived. Some of the guests were late meeting back at the bus and our driver had to get them! We also got dropped off back at our hotel about 1:30pmish. A nice addition to our trip to NOLA!
