Overview

Enjoy this half day tour along PEI’s south shore. Departing from the Charlottetown waterfront, you will see old Charlottetown and hear about its important role in the founding of Canada. From the city, we head west into communities of the farmlands and tidy rural homes on our way to Victoria-by-the-Sea. This quaint artisan village holds many treasures, from a pretty range of lighthouse to craft shops, the wharf and cafés. Leaving Victoria, you will see more of PEI’s red sandstone shore and the Confederation Bridge comes into view. This record-setting structure is an engineering marvel. We stop at the foot of the bridge for an up-close look, and another lighthouse. Before you return to town, we stop at Cows Factory for a self-guided tour. Cows is famous for its award-winning ice cream, cheese and themed parody clothing. Enjoy an ice cream or sorbet on us. The final leg of this tour is in Charlottetown, through pretty neighbourhoods, Victoria Park and another view of historic downtown.

Our tour guide Maura was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. The tour was well organized and provided us with a great opportunity to see some of the fantastic sights of this amazing island.

Loved Victoria by the sea. Wish we had more time there. The lighthouses were amazing! Tours should coordinate with when the lighthouses are open.

We had toured with another Prince Edward Tour the day before and had a great experience. Also, we had read the other two reviews, which were incredibly positive and we were hopeful. I am sorry to say we had a poor experience with this tour. The van driver, Caroline, spoke mostly about her personal life and not about PEI. She was not knowledgeable about the island, having just moved here three years ago. There were not clear time frames, and there were times when the driver did not seem to know where she was going. It seems she was usually a bus driver for a large bus, but not a guide. Also, it was difficult to hear her because she did not wear a microphone. In addition, the tour mentions a small gift provided by the company while at the winery for those who do not drink, and there was nothing of the sort; indeed, there was a snide comment by the winery owner, "This is a winery and distillery, so why are you here if you don't drink?" One of the reasons we chose this tour was because it had provisions for those who do not drink alcohol, along with the other sites. I would not recommend this tour.

John, our bus driver, was witty and informative. He added to our enjoyment of PEI as well as to our knowledge. The tour included lovely towns we would not have seen otherwise plus an up-close, in-depth experience with the Confederation Bridge. John was always willing to share a corny joke or volunteer to take a photo. Great afternoon.
