Sadly we had a poor experience on the private tour of the Alcazar. We were 15 minutes just getting inside because many guests were given the wrong tickets. So the tour billed as 1.5 hours started 15 minutes late. My partner stayed for the full tour and it finished at 18:15 so in reality lasted just 1 hour. The other 3 of us handed back our “whisper” earpieces after about 10 minutes because the guide was poor. I am sure he was trying to appeal across the board but his delivery was too juvenile and every other word he used was “guys” as in “hey guys can you see a lion/castle/shield?” We ultimately learned more from the descriptions displayed in the individual rooms. I also found it difficult to hear what the guide was saying as with just one ear piece you had to block the other ear in order to hear. This tour was a waste of money.

After a hassle trying to book on-line from the USA, we went with Pancho Tours for an Alcázar-only visit at 9:30am. Although the cost of the tour and admission was quite high ($75 for us both,) our guide, Lena (sp?) could not have been better. Witty, interactive and attentive, she supplied details which the guidebooks and placards do not include. After the tour, we were free to wander the Alcázar which we did for four hours. Sadly, we could not get to the upstairs residences. But if you stand crowds and love history or architecture, this is worth the time and expense.

I did the guided tour today with a guide called Miguel. He was a very lovely man and informative. He introduced himself to everybody and made sure everyone knew who he was. He knew a lot of information about both the Cathedral and the Alcazar and answered all our questions. He knew great English and made me really want to book for another tour before heading home. Would highly recommend the guided tour!

My wife and I booked the Royal Alcazar and Cathedral tour through La Vacanza Travel and were unimpressed with our experience. Firstly, on the day of our tour the cathedral was closed for religious services. We were refunded our money for this part of the tour, however when I questioned the company about this I was told that there was a mistake on the booking and we should not have been able to book the cathedral tour for that day. This was our last day in Seville and we were now unable to tour the cathedral. Had this mistake not been made we would have went on our own the day before. Secondly, the organization for the Alcazar tour was poor, I would give it a 1 star rating at best. We met at our designated meeting time, however the person with the umbrella told us to go stand in a circle by the statue. We waited for over 20 minutes without any information given as to what we were waiting for or when the tour would begin. Myself as well as other individuals inquired as to when we would begin but were not given any definitive answer. The factor saving this from a 1-star review was the tour itself. I do not remember the name of our guide but she was excellent. Very knowledgeable on the history of Spain as well as the palace. I would willingly take a tour with her again but will not rush to use pancho tours.

We booked this tour through La Vacanza Travel and expected the same service and quality as the reviews reflected but there must be an inconsistency in service: 1. Tickets weren’t included and you were told about it after you paid. 2. Once you met with the guide you had to pay for tickets in cash one by one which took some time. 3. Guide was a bit challenging to understand and chewed gum into the microphone 4. After the tour of the Alcazar we didn’t get the chance to tour the gardens and were told we could re enter later but since she bought all the tickets on one receipt we had to coordinate with 28 other people. 5. We then stood in a circle for another 30 minutes going through the same exercise and collecting money for the cathedral. Over this experience was subpar and the worst I have ever experienced. Not sure what we paid 100 dollars for but I know it wasn’t for the entrance. Maybe it was to listen to chewing of gum.
