Overview

The River of Golden Dreams is a summertime classic. Our guides will teach you paddling skills and techniques as you begin your adventure paddling across the historic Alta Lake. You will paddle through flowing lilies and around bends of overhanging greenery as you learn about Whistler's history, flora and fauna.

Water levels are always changing and this tour is always an adventure, be it fast moving water in the spring or obstacles like beaver dams and a portage in late summer.

Duration: 3 Hours round trip

Ability: Moderate level of fitness required. Must be able to swim.

Minimum age to participate: 6+

  • All children (under 19) must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum age to participate is 6 years of age.
  • ALL participants must be able to swim.
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately.
  • It is mandatory for all tour participants to sign a Release of Liability and Waiver Form. Any participants under the age of 19 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign on their behalf.
  • Language: a conversational level of English is required to safely participate in Canoe tours
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 16 travelers
  • Confirmation will be received within 48 hours of booking, subject to availability

We had a wonderful and relaxing afternoon canoe tour with CWA around Alta Lake and the River of Golden Dreams. The scenery was simply stunning and there was a lot of wildlife to see along the way. Ally was super friendly and an excellent guide, and a big thanks to Brandon as well. They had lots of great tips for our time in Whistler and beyond. I would highly recommend this company for a great Whistler experience.

The Canoe Tour was so much fun and the scenery was beautiful! Ally and her Scottish co-worker lead our tour and did a great job making sure everyone felt comfortable in the canoe before we ventured across the lake to the river. They were very enthusiastic and full of information about the area. We highly recommend this tour and would do it again!

Took the whole fam. Everyone, including the kids had a great time. Ally and Andy were great. Would definitely recommend. The conditions made it a great workout, so be ready to canoe, as this isn’t a lazy river float.

What a wonderful trip, I would highly recommend. Ally was fantastic with my two teenagers giving them guidance and remaining so patient (it must have been difficult at times). She deserves a medal and you can tell she really loves her job. She made our trip. We’ve not laughed as much all holiday especially when my son fell over in the water when trying to move the boat when it got stuck. It didn’t help that my son admitted he’d been watching a dog in the lake rather than listen to Ally’s instructions up front. Sorry to the other family that finished much earlier - must have been annoying waiting for us. Thank you to Branden too for our safe journey to the site and helping with equipment.
