Overview

Have a great ceramic making experience! Get the chance to express yourself through pottery in this 2 - 3 hours ceramic class - course. Come with your friends or with your kids and play with clay while learning the basic skills of ceramic art. Make your own ceramics under the directions of ceramic artist Dionysia Avouri, the owner of Adamieion Ceramic Art Studio. During the lesson you create a turtle and a second more free form, with the style and decoration depending on your creativity and imagination! We fire your creations and you collect them after three (3) days or we send them to your home. The studio is located in a pleasant environment among olive trees and vineyards. Admire some of the oldest olive trees on the island, aged more than 1.000 years old! You, your friends and your kids are welcome to play and create with clay, away from the noisy tourist resorts. What Can You Expect?

Itinerary

First you visit the exhibition-shop to get an idea of Dionysia' s work.

Then you work with Dionysia for 2 to 3 hours to get familiar with clay and create your own unique ceramic memories from Zakynthos island. The standard project includes the creation of two pieces a turtle and a second more free form (bowl, tile etc). The shape, the style and the decoration of the 2 pieces depends on your imagination and creativity! Your ceramics will remain to dry under the sun and then I will glaze and fire them. They will be ready out from the kiln two (2) to three (3) days after the lesson, depending on weather conditions and my kiln firing schedule.

After the lesson you may have a walk in our farm and admire some of the oldest olive trees in Zakynthos.

We had such a fun and peaceful experience here, we learnt lots of skills in sculpting and ended up with really beautiful pieces to take home! We also got shown their amazing garden of olive trees and grape vines. I would recommend this to anyone with any ability as a mindful and enriching creative experience.

The ceramics workshop was great, it’s a super zen activity in the setting of a big garden and olive trees. A big shop for inspiration or to buy nice ceramics. The teacher is really friendly. It’s easy to do, you start with a turtle for techniques and then make your own bowl. After a few days you can pick it up baked and painted. So make sure you don’t plan this on your last day :-)

Dionysia provided the best morning crafting ceramics. Everything was very chilled out and educational, you can tell this is Dionysia’s passion. We were provided technical information, how to work with the clay and how to mould and sculpt. Dionysia provided coffee and little treats during our visit. Highly recommend to anybody visiting the island.
