Overview

Become acquainted with the Dutch countryside during this 8-hour day tour with your guide through the villages of Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam and Marken.

Marvel at the famed windmills of Zaanse Schans as you learn of their significance to the region. Visit a clog workshop where they will carve us live this typical shoe. Take a free time to photograph the impressive landscapes.

Visit Edam, a World Heritage Site and whose old town is one of the most beautiful in Holland. Enjoy in a cheese factory, where they will show us how cheese is made. This tour includes an extensive tasting.

Lose yourself amidst the striking wooden houses and a maze of narrow streets in Volendam, the former fishing village. Enjoy some free time to taste the local fish. The Volendam's cod and herring are delicious!

Then, travel to the old island of Marken enjoing the amazing views around you. This historic place remains well-preserved to this day.

Finally we will return to Amsterdam.

This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Zaanse Schans, Schansend 1, 1509 AW Zaandam The Netherlands

Our guide will explain the history and function of the typical Dutch mills and will visit with you a traditional wooden clog workshop . Then you will enjoy free time to visit and photograph the mills.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Edam, Edam, North Holland Province

After a walking tour through the center of the historic city of Edam visiting its most well-known monuments and corners, we will access a typical cheese factory where they will tell us about the process of making cheese and we will enjoy a tasting of different types of cheese.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Volendam, Volendam, North Holland Province

We will enjoy a guided tour of the old town and port of Volendam. We will have free time to walk around and eat at any of its restaurants.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Marken, Marken, North Holland Province

Once we arrive at the islet of Marken, we will enjoy a guided tour from its idyllic port through its narrow streets before returning to Amsterdam.

Duration: 1 hour

Brilliant trip. The guide was very informative with a good sense of humour. We would have liked more time at Marken and Edam with some free time. But overall a good trip

The overall experience was nice, our guide was wonderful. enjoyed all the little villages. Very disappointed in the Zaans Schwahn experience we were just dropped off and not really a tour. So much to see and learn about - had to figure it out on our own.

My friend and I enjoyed this tour much more than expected! It was very well organised, both in terms of timing and places/activities involved. Our guide Ana Maria was awesome. She was very nice, friendly and really knowledgeable. She told us many interesting (and fun) facts about the country, Amsterdam and dutch people and she kept us entertained all the time during the trip both in the bus and when we were visiting the places. The order of the villages we visited was the other way around compared to what was written in the booking, but we didn't really mind. Actually the first stop (Marken) was our favourite one! The only thing we didn't enjoy too much was the cheese workshop as they put two groups together and in our opinion we were way too many people in the same room (it was difficult to have a good view of the cheese demonstration). But apart from that, the tour was very good overall. We got to see different villages (Marken, Edam, Volendam and Zaanse Schans) and attended a cheese making demonstration (which included cheese tasting) and a typical dutch clog workshop. Zaanse Schans was the last stop before returning to Amsterdam and unfortunately the place was too crowded, but that didn't obviously depend on the tour operators. Perhaps if we went there first thing in the morning we would enjoy it more (with less people), but then probably the other places would be crowded anyway later in the day. In summary I'm very happy I chose this tour for myself and my friend, we had great time in the countryside, we learnt many unexpected things and I definitely recommend it. Thanks Ana Maria! It was such a great experience!

Great tour with lovely stops. Not enough time in Zaanse Schans. We only had 1 hour and 10 minutes The guide Tirso was very good and informative
