Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Colossi of Memnon, Thebes, Luxor Egypt

The Colossi of Memnon (Arabic: el-Colossat or es-Salamat) are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which stand at the front of the ruined Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III, the largest temple in the Theban Necropolis. They have stood since 1350 BC, and were well known to ancient Greeks and Romans, as well as early modern travelers and Egyptologists. The statues contain 107 Roman-era inscriptions in Greek and Latin, dated to between AD 20 and 250; many of these inscriptions on the northernmost statue make reference to the Greek mythological king Memnon, whom the statue was then – erroneously – thought to represent.

Scholars have debated how the identification of the northern colossus as "Memnon" is connected to the Greek name for the entire Theban Necropolis as the Memnonium.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Temple of Karnak, Karnak, Luxor Egypt

The Karnak Temple Complex, commonly known as Karnak (/ˈkɑːr.næk/), comprises a vast mix of temples, pylons, chapels, and other buildings near Luxor, Egypt. Construction at the complex began during the reign of Senusret I (reigned 1971–1926 BCE) in the Middle Kingdom (c. 2000–1700 BCE) and continued into the Ptolemaic Kingdom (305–30 BCE), although most of the extant buildings date from the New Kingdom. The area around Karnak was the ancient Egyptian Ipet-isut ("The Most Selected of Places") and the main place of worship of the 18th Dynastic Theban Triad, with the god Amun as its head. It is part of the monumental city of Thebes, and in 1979 it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the rest of the city. The Karnak complex gives its name to the nearby, and partly surrounded, modern village of El-Karnak, 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) north of Luxor.

Stop At: Luxor Temple, Luxor City, Luxor, Luxor Governorate 1362501, Egypt

The Luxor Temple (Arabic: معبد الأقصر) is a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile River in the city today known as Luxor (ancient Thebes) and was constructed approximately 1400 BCE. In the Egyptian language it was known as ipet resyt, "the southern sanctuary". It was one of the two primary temples on the east bank, the other being Karnak.[1] Unlike the other temples in Thebes, Luxor temple is not dedicated to a cult god or a deified version of the pharaoh in death. Instead, Luxor temple is dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship; it may have been where many of the pharaohs of Egypt were crowned in reality or conceptually (as in the case of Alexander the Great, who claimed he was crowned at Luxor but may never have traveled south of Memphis, near modern Cairo).

My driver Chico and guide Ahmed were excellent. My driver was on time and picked me up from my hotel. My guide Ahmed took some good pictures. Thank you.

Visits were incredible, and increasing quality with time. The boutique part was predictible as it is a trap for tourists but it was still a very good experience. Our guide knowledge and explanations were great. He was adaptable and even changed langage and switch for us. The driver was very nice and always on time, made us feel secure on the road, drove very quick and very professional and even brought us snacks. Just keep in mind that Emo Tour offers to start at 7am or 8am but we did not have the choice and accepted 6am.

The tour itself is great. However, the logistics don't live up to the theory. Here is something you should keep in mind booking this particular tour. I'm a solo traveler, and I love joining other groups to meet new people and experience something new each time. On this tour, I was NOT offered an option to join any groups and apprently they don't match tourists up. Everyone was doing a 'private' tour. I don't understand why I need to pay extra as a solo traveler when all the places I visited were literally packed with other one-two person 'private' tours. On top of all this, I gave La Vacanza Travel an option to match me up with a tour guide that speaks any of the top three languages I can communicate in - that most guides speak there, - and I got a tour guide who couldn't even hold a conversation in English. As much as I appreciate the fact that people do speak other languages in the country, I don't find it acceptable. If you are taking this tour in Arabic, it should be fine. The other note is they offer you to visit local 'workshops' to see how things are done, and ask you to buy something. If you ARE looking for those souvenirs, it might be a great option, but I wasn't. So it was nice they were not too forceful about that. The final opportunity for improvement is drving logistics. It took as about 4.5 hours to get back instead of 3 hours because for whatever reason (I gave up on trying to communicate with my tour guide and the driver) we decided to take local bumpy roads instead of the highway. Both the driver and the tour guide were really nice and trustworthy but the experience was pretty exhausting and I felt drained by the end of the day.

Can't recommend this trip enough! The best way to travel between Luxor and Aswan for sure!! Tayso from Emo tours helped us change dates last minute with no issue and provided us with a modern, large and comfortable, air conditioned SUV. Our driver and guide Ahmed Eid were great. We learned a lot and were able to spend lots of time wandering around the magnificent temples of Kom Umbu and Edfu (a cannot miss!) Ahmed was in high spirits and is in general a really very brotherly and fun guide. Considering they had to drive all the way back to Aswan once they droped us off in Luxor and it was actually a holiday for them, we can't express enough our appreciation and gratitude for the amazingly positive and energetic experience. Highly recommend!!

Our tour guide was Khaled Saady! We had an amazing time with him! He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Egyptology and shared that passion with us! He taught us so much about Egyptian history and kept us hydrated throughout a long and hot day (105 degrees)! We would not have enjoyed our tour without such an amazing tour guide! Highly recommend and the price is extremely reasonable since you’re being driven from and to Aswan with an amazing Egyptian lunch and driver! Highly recommend!
