Overview

Skip the Line access to the temple of Olympian Zeus, one of the largest temples in the ancient world that was 110 m. in length and had 104 columns, 16 of which have been preserved. Its construction lasted six centuries. Beside it stands Hadrian's Gate, built by the Athenians in honor of the Roman emperor who completed the temple.

The archaeological site comprises the temple of Olympian Zeus, Roman baths, Classical residences, a basilica of the fifth century AD, and part of the city’s fortification wall.

Hadrian’s Arch is located just outside the site’s fence.

Other important monuments of the site are the Doric peripteral temple of Apollo Delphinios (500 BC), the Delphinion Court with its spacious courtyard and chambers to the north (500 BC), the gates of the Themistoclean Wall (479-478 BC), the temple of Panhellenic Zeus (131-132 AD), and the small peripteral temple of Kronos and Rea (150 BC).

    Overall, visiting Temple of Olympian Zeus is something you should try to fit in. Lots to see and appreciate--especially if you're a fan of ancient Greek culture, architecture, and mythology. That said, the tickets we purchased through La Vacanza Travel did not work (error when ticket agent scanned our code). Luckily, the ticket office let us through. We were able to skip the shortish line (tourist season hadn't started yet). I wonder what would have happened if they were busier and/or if the ticket office wasn't in a nice mood!!!

    Easy ticket scan! We enjoyed walking around the ruins, although being under restoration. I wish the ticket process was simpler with purchasing and receiving ticket. Receiving the voucher and waiting for the ticket is too much correspondence!

    Nn ne vale la pena di andare a vedere questo sito… meglio risparmiare i soldi per altro che tanto il tempio si vede anche da fuori per esempio anche dalla veduta dell’ acropoli

    Momentan sieht man nur die drei rechtsten säulen, der sechserblock ist eingerahmt von einem baugerüst... daher war es wenig anschaulich Es gibt für die 7 antiken stätten in athen, ein gemeinsames ticket um 30€, welches 5 Tage gilt! Hätte ich das nicht gehabt, wäre ich nicht in diese Anlage gegangen...
