Located on the Bow River in Banff near the Banff Springs Hotel, just before the confluence of the Spray River.

The view across to the Banff Springs Hotel, Bow Falls below, and Sulphur and Rundle Mountains as a backdrop, has surprised visitors for over a century.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Cave and Basin National Historic Site, 311 Cave Ave, Banff, Banff National Park, Alberta T0L 0C0 Canada

The Cave and Basin National Historic Site of Canada area was well known and used by First Nations people, but it was in 1883, that 3 railway workers stumbled on the cave and its thermal mineral springs. It was an event that triggered much interest and tourism for the area and ultimately to the establishment of Canada's first national park, Banff National Park.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Banff Gondola, 100 Mountain Ave, Banff, AB T1L 1B2, Canada

One of the classic experiences in Banff is to take the gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain, where you can take in 360-degree mountaintop views across six ranges.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Lake Minnewanka Scenic Drive, Banff, Banff National Park, Alberta T1L 1K2 Canada

The most visited attraction along the route is Johnston Canyon, a relatively easy hike that includes metal walkways bolted to canyon walls. The Lower Falls is a scenic reward for completing the trail. Those wanting more can continue an uphill hike to the Upper Falls.

The Bow Valley Parkway is an excellent place to view wildlife.

Stop At: Johnston Canyon, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada

One of the most popular natural attractions in Banff National Park is the short hike to Johnston Canyon. It's a relatively easy 1.1 km (1 mile) walk along the trail and steel catwalks built into the canyon walls to the Lower Falls, where you have the option to crouch to go through a short tunnel to a final viewing platform.

Continue on the trail a bit further (and steeper) to the Upper Falls. In the summertime, the cool canyon provides a natural air-conditioning affect with the fine mist from the falls. In the winter, all this freezes and turns into an icy landscape of frozen waterfalls and snowed covered trees.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Moraine Lake Rd off Great Divide Hwy, Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada

The Valley of the Ten Peaks, is considered so iconically Canadian and was featured on the Canadian $20 bill for many years. Enjoy canoeing, a short walk to the Rockpile Viewpoint or Consolation Lake, or a delicious meal at Moraine Lake Lodge. Moraine Lake is typically thawed from June-Oct.

Excellent, information just at the right time during the drive! Imagine you are driving with that knowledgeable best friend! It was easy following waypoints and planning hikes along our route. The tour guide was witty and presented information ahead of time to choose side trips. We bought the whole Rocky Mountain Tour which transformed a beautiful drive into the best family trip to date. My two boys stopped playing video games and asked when we will finish the rest of the audio tour. The historical knowledge and information here is indispensable. Even if you drive passed these mountains regularly, you will learn something new and enjoy the drive even more. We are a skiing family and drive to the Rockies several times per year and so thankful to come across this tour. Please make the license available to Mom and Dad! My wife is now giving me the stink eye because the tour only works on my phone - LOL

Highly recommended. Entertaining with some excellent recommendations. Worked much better that expected. Once figured out how to use, had only a couple of glitches prob more due to me than system. Was leery going in because of negative reviews of another service but so glad we used. Met a few other travelers who used Gypsy and felt the same.

We rented a car and visited points of interest beginning with Jasper National Park, Lake Louise, and Banff National Parks. This guide is so worth the minimal costs. Knowing there would be areas with no internet service, we downloaded the voice and maps to our I Phone before we traveled. We had no technical issues at all. The unique feature is that the App follows you and changes the commentary in the direction you drive. So many helpful tips are included such as gas stations, food options, as well history and the most suggested picturesque stops of many areas to pull over. The commentator was interesting and had fun facts to break up any monotony. There are several different tours available for Canada and US.
