My recent visit to Barcelona was overwhelmingly disappointing, leaving me to seriously question its acclaim as a prime tourist destination. The city itself presented a grimy, neglected facade—far from the vibrant, inviting streets one might expect. The pungent odors and palpable lack of cleanliness, coupled with a pervasive sense of insecurity, painted a starkly negative picture of the city. More distressing, however, were my interactions with the locals. The prevailing demeanor can only be described as hostile, with a palpable arrogance that made me feel more like an intruder than a welcome guest. Most service encounters were marked by a gruff, transactional attitude that lacked any semblance of the warmth or hospitality traditionally associated with service industries. It seemed as though there was a collective chip on their shoulders, casting a shadow over my entire visit. In stark contrast to this bleak experience was the "Best of Barcelona and Sagrada Familia Tour" led by Alberto. His demeanor was the sole beacon of warmth and welcome in what was otherwise a cold and unwelcoming environment. Alberto’s extensive knowledge, coupled with his genuinely kind and accommodating nature, made the tour a rare highlight in a week filled with regrettable interactions. He managed to bring some much-needed joy and intrigue to my experience, showcasing the true potential of Barcelona through his exceptional guidance. To those considering Barcelona as a destination, I urge caution. Based on my experiences, other cities in Spain likely offer more enriching, enjoyable, and welcoming visits. If you do find yourself in Barcelona, seeking out Alberto’s tour might offer a brief respite from what may otherwise be a challenging visit.

Most of this you can do on your own. Guide was very good at Sagrada though. Be prepared to get yourself back to hotel or back to starting point. This tour does not return you round trip. 10 euros for a taxi, so we did not tip the guide. I would have preferred to tip the guide not pay for a taxi. No, we don't use transit when travelling unless necessary. Not the fault of the guide. The company should do better on this one.

One of the best TA tours I have taken. Rod my guide was amazing! Informative and entertaining. Highly recommend especially at the beginning of your stay in Barcelona. Great overview. Choose the whole day if possible (includes Park Guell,) Enjoy!

This tour was well worth the time and money. Our tour guide was amazingly knowledgeable and filled every moment with history delivered in a well organized manner.We met up in Old town and learned early history of the Gothic quarter then learned anbout Gaudí and toured Park Guell before the finale at Sagrada Familia. That was a favorite. Frances the guide had so much to give. Our tour group was small. It made all the difference to see so much in a day. Excellent !
