Stop At: Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, 708 Jesmond Rd Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane, Queensland 4069 Australia

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary opened in 1927 as a safe refuge for sick, injured, and orphaned koalas, at a time when the species was being culled for the fur trade.

Today, Lone Pine remains as a destination not only see native Australian animals, but to also connect and learn, and to leave feeling inspired to make small, positive changes in your daily lives to help protect native wildlife and habitats.

Along with koalas and kangaroos, Lone Pine hosts a sheepdog show where you see the dogs round up a herd of sheep, responding to their master’s whistles, calls and signals. You can see owls, kites and sea eagles soar above you at the Birds of Prey show, or marvel at the colorful feathers of the wild lorikeets that fly in twice daily for feedings. Other bird species and a population of Eastern Water Dragons, a lizard that grows up to 3 feet (90cm) long also like to visit Lone Pine’s natural parkland.

The boat ride was on time, plenty of room ,and great staff. The koala hold time was 1 minute. You received a picture, but not worth 45 dollars. It was raining so there wasn't a crowd.

A must do in Brisbane. The cruise was great and very informative. The park was awesome, I had been to Australia zoo just before which was also epic, but this park is smaller and has a more personal feel. Holding a koala was incredible. Seeing a platypus and flying foxes was a highlight- interesting little critters. Highly recommend this tour!!

We did not run into the boat fast enough and by the time we were on board the only seats left were in the back, right Infront of the toilet. With the noise created by a running engine and the propeller we did not hear a word of the information as the loudspeakers at the back of the boat were not strong enough. Disappointing.

A great combination of a river cruise with entry to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (reviewed separately). The cruise down the river was very relaxing with great commentary. A perfect way to get to the sanctuary and back.
