Itinerary

Day 1: Calgary/ Banff - Columbia Icefield-Jasper

Pass By: Crowfoot Glacier, Improvement District No. 9, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
Attached to the Northeast side of the Crowfoot Mountain and overlooking the Bow Lake lies the Crowfoot Glacier. This huge mass of ice was named a century ago because its appearance resembled that of a three-toed crowfoot. Be sure to take lots of photos because the next time you visit Crowfoot Glacier, it might not look the same anymore!

Stop At: Bow Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
Bow Lake is a stop you will not regret taking while you are travelling across Icefield Parkway. When the lake thaws in the summer, it becomes a vivid blue colour from the glacier melt of the Crowfoot Glacier. Speaking of the Crowfoot Glacier, the Bow Lake is also the perfect place to view the Crowfoot Glacier, Wapta Icefield, bow glacier, crowfoot mountain and Mount Thompson. It really seems like the ultimate all in one package!
Duration: 20 minutes

Pass By: Icefields Parkway, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
Joining the hamlet of Lake Louise in Banff with the Town of Jasper in Jasper National Park is one of the most scenic highways in the world --- Icefields Parkway. Along the 230 km mountain road, every corner on the Icefields Parkway reveals another one of nature’s splendor, from the ancient glaciers and cascading waterfalls to the vivid colours of lakes and lush forests. Many stops along the Icefields Parkway deserve a stop.

Stop At: Peyto Lake, Icefield Parkway, Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
Located along the Icefields Parkway, approximately 40km north of Lake Louise is the vibrant glacier-fed lake, Peyto Lake. The lake is nestled in majestic mountain ranges which lie on each of its sides. This jaw dropping view is the best reward for an intense scrambling hike. The scenery on the viewpoint looks as if it is a carefully painted piece of art. Peyto Lake’s beauty is comparable with the famous Moraine Lake without as many crowds. (If the attraction is under maintenance or other force majeure, we will go to Waterfowl Lake and Big Hill as the alternative attractions)
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Columbia Ice Field Highway Highway 1, Jasper, Jasper National Park, Alberta Canada
[Columbia Icefield] is the largest ancient icefield in the Canadian Rockies.
A ride on the [Ice Explorer] (additional charges) to explore [Athabasca Glacier]. Medicine Lake, also known as “the lake that disappears” is located 20 km southeast of the town of Jasper. Medicine lake is a 7 km long narrow lake that is formed by the Maligne River. Interesting enough, the lake loses water as it flows. Why is that you may ask? When the water is on its way to merge with the Athabasca River, it reaches the medicine lake area, and pools up to form the Lake over the largest inaccessible limestone cave system.

Stop At: Maligne Lake Rd. 44 km southeast of Jasper, Jasper National Park, Alberta Canada
22km long, the majestic Maligne Lake is the second-largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. Discover the world-famous [Spirit Island] only accessible by boat, on a cruise that has been running for over 60 years in Jasper. Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Sasketchawan River Crossing, Sasketchawan River Crossing, Banff National Park, Alberta
South of the Icefield Avenue, in addition to the beautiful scenery of the Rocky Mountains, the [Saskatchewan River Crossing] is an interesting place to stop for a short rest. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes

Stop At: Moraine Lake Rd off Great Divide Hwy, Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
(Open Seasonal/Alternative Attractions: Lake Minnewanka*). Its waters are the most amazing color, a vivid shade of turquoise that changes in intensity throughout the summer as the glaciers melt. Stop At: Emerald Lake Road, Yoho National Park, British Columbia Canada
One of the most admired destinations in Yoho National Park is Emerald Lake. This gorgeous emerald coloured lake is a result of the light refracting the deposit of rock flour in the lake. Emerald Lake is surrounded by the President Range that forms a natural amphitheater with towering forested banks. If you look carefully, you might be able to spot some really cool wildlife such as marmots, bald eagle, bears, loons, and the occasional moose!
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Natural Bridge, Yoho National Park, British Columbia Canada
Stop at the [Natural Bridge] along the way and admire the Kicking Horse River as it carves a path through ancient rock. You can hear the roar of the disappearing water churning and ejecting beneath the bridge to further reinforce the move in making this a legitimate waterfall.

The tour guides from this tour - Simon, Lisa and Michael do their jobs with great professionalism and passion. I can tell they love their jobs, and most importantly, they love Banff. The scenery is fantastic, the tour guides make the tour experience even more enjoyable. In addition to that, Joe, the driver also did an excellent job. Joe doesn’t talk much, I can tell he’s conserving his energy to drive us through the curvy mountain roads so we can all arrive the designated places safely and enjoy breathtaking views. I have two suggestions, firstly, the microphone on the vehicle always breaks off, that really hurts our ears. Hopefully they can be fixed. Secondly, I hope we can get to know the tour guide of the day’s contact in advance. Some tour guides did send us contact info the night prior which that was good. Some of them, we didn’t get to know the contact or name, the travel agency didn’t pickup my calls, after an hr or so I did get a text message informing me the info. However, if everything was informed prior to the trip, tourists might not need to experience any panic moments in a place that they’ve never been before.

The most memorable was the first day. Went completely downhill the next two days. Was put on a terrible small bus for the last two long days. Most uncomfortable old bus and stuck at very back. couldn’t hear the driver who was also the guide which should not happen. The only thing good was the beauty of alberta

The first 2 days of the trip was rushed. Lisa the guide was too hasty ,not organised and a bit rude. She was rushing us for lunch telling us what to eat and not eat. Very unorganised esp in the icefield tour. The guide for the 3rd day Jaela was the total opposite very friendly and nice. Also on the 3rd day Jaela indicated we had already paid service charge however Lisa took service charge on both days for 3 persons. The places visted in tour were worth it however more time was needed.

What an unforgettable journey! A massive thank you to Simon, our amazing tour guide who went above and beyond to make our trip truly extraordinary. Getting to explore a new place can be daunting, but having Simon as our guide was like unlocking a secret door to the heart of the region. His intricate knowledge of each location we visited, along with the local secrets only someone truly immersed in the culture would know, brought the entire experience to life in an enchanting way. It was like participating in a delightful treasure hunt where each day held the promise of new revelations. Simon's approach to guiding is not just about sharing information but also about sharing his passion. His enthusiasm was infectious, and it was evident that he loves what he does. Even when faced with our endless stream of questions, his patience and friendliness never waned. But the icing on the cake was his knack for making the tour comfortable and engaging. He was always attentive to our needs, ensuring we were having fun while also learning and experiencing the best of what the place had to offer. In conclusion, Simon didn't just give us a tour; he gave us a memorable journey that we will cherish forever. If you're planning a trip, do yourself a favor and make sure Simon is your guide! You'll end up with memories that will bring a smile to your face for a long time. Cheers to more adventures with Simon in the future!
