Overview

Take a full-day private tour of the Moroccan capital, Rabat. Visit historical monuments, archeological sites, and ancient ruins, and take a trip to the Hassan II Mosque on your way in to Rabat. In this guided walking you’ll experience the culture of Rabat with a trip to the Medina and the Mohammad VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Wear comfortable shoes for this moderate walking tour of this stunning city.

Your first stop after your Casablanca hotel pick-up is to Casablanca's most famous attraction, the Hassan II Mosque for a 45-minute guided tour. Learn about the history and cultural significance of this holy attraction before heading off to the kingdom’s capital, Rabat.

Once there, you will see the 12th Century Kasbah Oudaya, a departure point for armies leaving to conquest Spain in the 18th century and a gathering place for pirates. Depending on time limits, your tour can include Rabat's major attractions like the Hassan Tower, a 12th Century mosque, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and his son Hassan II.

Visit Chellah, an ancient complex of both Roman and medieval ruins. Then take a stroll at the Medina of Rabat to get a feel for the local lifestyle, and possibly get a taste of some local dishes.

If you wish, the tour can also include the Museum Mohammad VI of Modern and Contemporary Art before heading back to your hotel in your private ride. Transportation is provided in an air-conditioned van. Your private guide will accompany you and offer historical background on the sites throughout the day-trip.

Halim was a fantastic guide. He was knowledgeable sharing both history and current events. It felt like an old friend was taking us around. Van was very spacious even my 6ft+ son had room to stretch out in the third row.

We had a great private tour as a shore excursion from our cruise stop in Casablanca. Our guide was Halim - he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our group of 10 included my kids, ages 8 & 10, all the way up to my parents. It started with a 45 min tour of the beautiful Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. (The cost to enter the Mosque was not included and was about $10/person, so make sure and have that.) Then we drove about an hour to Rabat, where our first stop was the Royal Palace, called the Dar al-Makhzen. This is not a place you can enter, so we just walked up to it and Halim told us some history and we took photos. Then we stopped for lunch at the Cafeteria 7eme Art. It was a beautiful day and nice to sit out and have a relaxing meal. The food was good and they had a variety of traditional tagines and also my son was able to get a cheeseburger :) Paying by credit card was a little difficult. I'd recommend having euros - that's what they preferred here. Our next stop was the Hassan Tower and Mohamed V Mausoleum. The tower is part of an unfinished mosque that was started in 1195. The Mohamed V Mausoleum was across from it in the same complex and I think is usually open to visitors, but was closed for restoration while we were there. Our last stop was the Kasbah of the Udayas. It's a community that you enter at the main gate and take a walk through the lovely little streets and out to a pretty panoramic view of the ocean, city, and River Bou Regreg. Then we made the drive back to Casablanca and a quick stop at a store for some souvenir shopping. It was very crowded and touristy, but I think we were trying to make sure we made it back in plenty of time before our ship left. Overall, it was a great tour and Halim was a wonderful guide! Thanks for a great taste of Morocco!

Our tour guide (Hanif) made our day extra special. He was knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. We booked a private tour for four which is the way we like to travel. No waiting for others or spending time at sites of no interest. We have done many tours and Hanif definitely was one of our top ten guides. Abraham was our driver, although he didn't speak english he was pleasant and always smiling.

My family of 6 visited Casablanca on a cruise and decided to take a day tour to Rabat. My husband and I had been to Morocco previously, so we had an idea of what to expect and wanted my family to enjoy the day. This tour was great and the service was wonderful. It was great to have this tour organized for us since we were short on time and wanted to escape the chaos of Casablanca. Overall, we truly enjoyed the day. The only thing I would say is I had requested we go to a medina to do some shopping as I wanted my family to see one and I wanted to pick up a few things. We ran out of time and out guide suggested a store that frankly was a bit touristy and over priced. Since I had been to Morocco previously, I knew this but I'm assuming the average person wouldn't know this. This was a bit disappointing but again, we had run out of time. Everything else was wonderful and we enjoyed the lunch...very tasty. Get the tangine always! I learned how to make it when I was in Morocco before and I just love having it! Thanks for a great day!
