Itinerary

Pass By: Jewish Quarter (Juderia), Cordoba Spain

First stop is the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a site also called the Palace of the Christian Kings, built in the 14th century by Alfonso XI. Walk through the inside of the palace and see remarkable Arabian baths, Roman mosaics and a sarcophagus of marble from the 3rd century.
As you wander through the Jewish Quarter, dating to the time of the Romans, look out for important monuments dedicated to the most important sons of Cordoba: Roman philosopher Seneca, Arabian philosopher Averroes and Jewish philosopher Maimonides.
Here you can also see the Synagogue.
And the magnificent Mezquita, a cathedral converted from an original mosque when the Christians conquered Cordoba in the 13th century. Modifications took place more than two centuries later, so the building’s original Gothic style is combined with Baroque and Renaissance elements.
Upgrade: Baños Árabes
Make your own way to the Arabian baths, and then spend up to 2.5 hours inside at leisure.

Nice tour. Learned a lot about the city and its history. Might have moved a bit faster through some of the places so we were a bit tired by the end, which was the most impressive of the destinations. Overall a very worthwhile experience.

Cordoba is a great city. It’s bigger than we thought and the locals really get out and enjoy company and their great food. The Mezquita was just so amazing and we were delighted with our guide, Angel, as he provided great information and knowledge peppered with loads of laid back humour. So worth it. You can see all these things alone but it’s so much better with guidance... it’s the little things that made all the difference.

We took several day trips in Spain this was one of our favorites, Angel was a very good host, very knowledgeable and friendly. The Baths were a very relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.

Paki (sp?) had a great sense of humor and educated us well about the Moorish, Roman and Christian past of Cortoba and Andalucia. Having lived in the US, she communicates very well with just enough of a Spanish accent. The Mezquita was especially impressive.

We toured the Alcazar, a little bit of the surrounding neighborhood and the fantastic Mezquita. Good, thoughtful commentary. Good value.
