This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. After a warm welcome into this modest generational household, where Jitendra and Lata live along with their twin sons and their new wives, you will enjoy a simple, everyday vegetarian Rajasthani meal that Lata and her daughters-in-law have lovingly prepared. Lata took a cooking class while in university and has been feeding her family for decades since. The meal will include authentic dishes that a typical local family might enjoy on a day to day basis. Your home-style meal will be served on a stainless steel thali and might include dishes such as Lata's specialty, gatta ki sabji (a typical Rajasthani dish of grain dumplings in sauce), Rajasthani biryani, stir-fried and spiced vegetables like carrots, peas and leafy greens, all served with roti and puri (Indian breads). Your meal will conclude with a dessert such as a subtly sweet cashew nut halva. After your meal, Jitendra will invite you up to their rooftop for fantastic views of the Mehrangarh Fort and the surrounding old city, known for its pastel blue facades.
