Overview

The Lion & Safari Park is a 30-45-minute drive from Johannesburg, located in the historic Cradle of Humankind. It’s a protected conservation area that’s home to over 80 lions, including the famous white lions that starred in the internationally-acclaimed “The White Lion” feature film. It’s also home to cheetah, hyena, wild dogs, various antelope and a tower of tame giraffe.

The Lion & Safari Park offers guests an enjoyable mini-safari experience in a malaria-free area. Explore over 600 hectares of the lions’ natural habitat in a specialised safari vehicle with a professional game ranger. Learn more about lions and the other wild animals in the safari park and enjoy a morning or afternoon in the country.

Stop At: Lion and Safari Park, R512 Lanseria Rd, Broederstroom, Madibeng 0240 South Africa

After pick-ups, we make our way to the Lion & Safari Park, located north of Johannesburg in The Cradle of Humankind. After a brief safety talk, you’re taken on a 2-hour game drive in the predator enclosure in a specialised open safari vehicle.

Return to the main centre to spend some time watching the young lion cubs and other animals.

You can buy something to eat and drink at the Wetlands Restaurant (own cost) and the youngsters can play safely in the supervised kids’ playground.

Pop into the 5 Dome Shopping Experience for a holiday shopping spree. You’ll find a wide range of locally-sourced African arts and crafts, jewellery, clothing and home-ware.

After a lovely time at the safari park, your guide drops you back at your accommodation in Johannesburg.

Unexpected layover in Johannesburg led to find this trip at the last minute. Was skeptical at how easy it was to book and at how high it was rated. But the communication through TripAdvisor and WhatsApp was great, and the pick up from the hotel was on time and setting us up for trip was perfect. Our driver was friendly, telling us many things about South Africa as we were driving. He gave us great instructions when at the Lion park that helped us get the best seats on the truck. The tour was wonderful - tour guides very knowledgeable friendly and informative. Ended with the lions - have never been that close to them before, there were 3 groups of them to see, and they were beautiful. Less active because they had been fed 2 days prior, but still worthwhile to see them. Never good to miss a connecting flight, but this trip made it worth it. Lived up to everything that was advertised.

Our student group had a great time. Cosmos was our guide and he was wonderful! We had a delay in arriving to our tour and Cosmos was very patient and accommodated us by shortening our tour. He was great! Thank you for a terrific experience.

A wonderful tour. For a "mini" safari we saw a lot of animals and were very close to them. Our driver was top, we spent magical moments.

This is the best safari park that we have ever been to. So many animals and so much space for them to roam about. We had the best guide - Dusty, she was so much fun and extremely knowledgeable. We saw so many lions, cheetas, leopards, giraffes, wildebeest, impalas, spotted and striped hyenas and wild dogs. We were so lucky to be there for feeding time. It was such an honour. A make lion lay right next to our van whilst eating- unbelievable. The transfer from our hotel was also very professional. Our driver cosmo was so informative and friendly. All in all a fantastic day. Would highly recommend
