The main camp KL Auschwitz was created in the mid-1940s, in the nearby suburbs of Oswiecim. A year later the German Nazis established the second part of the camp Auschwitz (II) - Birkenau which became the largest extermination centre for European Jews. It is the most recognizable symbol of the Holocaust and human genocide in the world. The Memorial Site is an area of almost 200 ha, over 150 buildings, and about 300 ruins, including remains of gas chambers and crematoria destroyed by the Germans. The trip includes permanent exhibitions, original buildings of the main Auschwitz camp and the most important buildings of the Auschwitz (II) - Birkenau camp.

Really good tour and smoothly run. Only negative was i couldn't sit next to my partner on the travelling bus. I think that should have been considered.

This may be a long review, but we had a long day. Please bear with me. It seems I purchased this tour without a transfer. I wasn't aware of this until I called the tour company from the meeting point wondering where our ride was. Surprise! I purchased the wrong ticket. I'd like to know how I did that, but that option isn't even available at the time of writing this review. (The company just let me know that they removed this option because it was confusing. I'll attach a screenshot.) Hmm.. go figure. All I know that I was very much under the impression that I was getting a ride there. It was the whole point of booking this tour after all. Now that I know this, I can go back to to the confirmation and see the two words 'without transfer' in the description, but I must have missed that while reading the whole page of pickup instructions and locations. The whole process was very misleading. Ok, so there we are at the pick up location on the phone with the tour company with a decision to make. Do we try to get to Auschwitz on our own with no time to spare? The company told us on the phone that we couldn't get a refund, but we could get a taxi and meet up with the driver and the rest of the group at the first stop. Fine, they already denied us a refund and this our only day available to do this tour that we were looking forward to. But, nobody told us that not only was there no transportation to get there, but also no transportation to get to the other stops. It cost $60 (prices in USD) for the hour long taxi to Auschwitz and the salt mines are over an hour away from there. Now my wife and I are stranded there and have to decide to either pay over $60 for a taxi to the salt mines and hope we can get home from there or just give up and go home. We did the latter. Nothing like being convinced to pay a bunch of money to rush to a place you'll be stranded at. My guess is that they did this because once we actually showed up to the tour it would be much harder for us to get a refund from La Vacanza Travel. The tour itself was very good, but this tour is run by the museum. No credit goes to the company for this. They just get you there. In my case, they didn't. We paid $94 for two tickets that we could have purchased directly from the museum for $42. I suppose their $52 was for the confusion, frustration, and handing me tickets I could have purchased myself. Even if you want to do a 'no transfer' tour, just book directly from the museum and donate the extra $52 if you are really set on spending $94. There seriously isn't any added benefit to buying from this company. They also didn't provide us with the lunch that was included in the ticket. Other people had lunch, but I guess that is also a transfer perk. The phrase for the day was, "Sorry, we can't help you." This was honestly the worst tour experience we have ever had. I wanted to give this company a chance because they had less reviews than the other companies and the tour was longer than the other companies so we thought we'd be less rushed and more relaxed. We should have gone with one of the bigger more reviewed companies.
