Fantastic underground experience in Wieliczka only a few minutes drive from Central Krakow.. Plenty of chambers, lakes, corridors and sculptures along the way. The highlight was probably the chapel placed 1100 meters underground, with everything made of salt including the altar. Do not just pass by the Miner's Tavern towards the end of the trip, enjoyed the classic polish cuisine and drinks there, very reasonably priced.

Fabulous trip. Tour guide was so knowledgable - her humour and kind considerate nature - made for a very good outing. The salt sculptures and lakes were amazing . The history of this site was shared with ease by the tour guide - We left feeling we had learnt a great amount . At all times the guide was clear in her explanations, along with the history of what we were seeing. This with her considerate manner in checking that all in our tour group were feeling alright and that we had, had enough time for refreshment breaks and shopping breaks. The guide let us know how many steps we had completed and how deep we had walked into the mine - checking that we were all ok with each stage of the journey to the deepest point of the mine . The guide checked and waited patiently for our group to catch up - so no one had to hurry between each area. At the end of the tour ( after we used the lift back to the surface ) the guide took us all back to our start point ( which we may not have found ourselves ) so we could get back on our coach . Pick up very smooth - taxi then transfer to the coach and in reverse after the trip .

Astonishing place but the physical demands of the steps and the amount of walking is rather glossed over in the advertising.

Generally a great visit but too rushed and couldn't hear a lot of what the guide said as there was another noisy tour group on our heels! At end of the tour no proper instructions were given on how to get back to the tour bus.
