Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for the Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace. The impressive, elaborate carvings and decors in the Ninomaru Palace are a must-see.

Stop At: Kinkakuji Temple, 1 Kinkakujicho, Kita-ku, Kyoto 603-8361 Kyoto Prefecture

The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pond.

See the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which was used as the Emperor's residence until about 150 years ago. The Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed to visitors on Mondays, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event. As such, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead. If the closed day falls on the 25th, the tour will visit Nishi Hongan-ji Temple.

We could not find the meeting point using the instructions provided by the tour company and the Google maps link provided. We looked for 1/2 hour and were taken around in circles. The tour operator thru La Vacanza Travel refused to give us a refund. Will never use the La Vacanza Travel app for tours again.

Make sure you go to the right place for the bus pickup. The email confirmation didnt give us the correct address. You have to click on the ticket then scroll down to get the correct location.
