this was the longest tour I ever done and it was filled with adventure and new experiences I am so grateful for! The golden temple is well worth the visit and time and in my opinion more special than the Taj! I felt really safe and comfortable during my stay and was put in very nice accommodation. If you are curious about doing this tour I highly recommend it!

Amazing trip from start to finish. Taking a car from Delhi to Amritsar is truly worth it. The beauty of Punjab can best be seen by car. The Golden Temple is a can’t miss bucket list type attraction. Balwinder is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Punjab. As a solo traveler I learned so much about the Golden Temple, the history of Punjab and India during the trip. Balwinder carefully planned the trip to maximize my comfort and also ensured I experienced the most in the 2 days. We arrived right on time for the Wagah border missing the queues altogether and then the unexpected surprise of seeing the Golden temple at night! The best part of the trip was having lunch in Balwinder’s village. I had the opportunity to meet his entire family and spend time seeing the village and eating a home cooked meal. To me this was an opportunity to see the real India and experience what life is like in a village. I stayed overnight at the Ramada which had a great breakfast buffet (included) and was right in the heart of Amritsar. Overall, the trip was amazing and will be a lasting memory for me. This trip was more than just seeing the attractions it was an opportunity to see the real Indian in a genuine way.

I had a weekend free at Delhi and tried the tour company, Five senses again for my tour of Amritsar. I had heard a lot about the glittering golden temple. In reality, it was truly magnificent and tranquility personified. The kitchen experience was mind-blowing and will leave me with a lifetime of memories. It is a must do if you are around Delhi and have 2 days of free time.

This was an incredibly easy, safe and wonderful way to get from New Delhi to Amritsar. If you have the time for an overnight stop there are many incredible places to visit and it was well worth the extra time. We were fortunate to have Balwinder Singh as our travel ambassador. His polite, professional personalized service ensured that we stopped as often as we wanted and saw some incredible sites such as local temples, architecture, great tea shops and other points of interest that you won’t see from a bus or train. We spent the night in Chandigarh which was an easy four hour drive from New Delhi and allowed us plenty of time to see some last minute sites in Delhi before hitting the road. Next morning Balwinder arranged a fantastic tour of Chandigarh, India’s first planned city designed by the architect Le Corbusier. The highlight was a visit to the Capitol Complex, a World Heritage site and an architectural wonder. Balwinder lives on a farm with his family in the Punjab and we were honored to stop and meet them and share a meal and their wonderful hospitality. We also toured a few farms in the area to gain an understanding of the joys and challenges of farming and rural life in the Punjab, the bread basket of India. There are lots of ways to travel between New Delhi and Amritsar. But none of them come close to the amazing, one-of-a-kind adventure this turned out to be. Highest recommendation!

We very much enjoyed our two day tour of Amritsar with Balwinder, one of 5 Senses’ excellent cultural ambassadors. He is Sikh himself, and was a fantastic guide. The visit to the Golden Temple and other Amritsar attractions was fascinating. On the way from Delhi we visited Balwinder’s rural village, outside of Chandigarh. His charming wife served lunch made with fresh produce from their fields. We loved interacting with the family, including his young daughter and niece. This was our second tour with 5 Senses—in 2020 they hosted us for three weeks in the South. It is a highly recommended operation.
