The Akshardham Temple is an absolutemust to see - it is one of the most beautiful temples on earth - our guide Neelan was marvellous and a very cultured and intelligent and gracious lady. The steps up to the Jama Masjid mosque were too much for us owing to our disabilities but we saw the Red Fort and then had a most fascinating ride in an auto-rickshaw through Old Delhi including Chadni Chowk.
that ride was brought to life by our wonderful guide Neelan's great descriptions and accounts of Old Delhi's history, and present state of administration. It is unexpectedly very important as an international business centre as well. Neelan then took us to see the very historic St James Anglican Church in nearby Kashmere Gate, and then to the beautiful Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Sikh temple. She also read us a wonderful essay on the chaotic traffic and notorious driving in Delhi - it was so humorous that we could not stop laughing for ages -but it was so true!!
