Overview

Our small group eastside makers and artisans walking tour takes you to the side of the river where the hotbed of innovation has always been, across from downtown Portland in a neighborhood packed with breweries young and old. We'll head toward the river from our inner Eastside shop into an industrial neighborhood rich with food and art, exploring the past and the present of Portland's craft culture.

Portland was a leader in the DIY culture and is home to every kind of food and beverage, from tea and kombucha to coffee and handmade soda; candies to hot sauces; imports and things made of recycled goods right in the warehouse district. All of these thrive in this neighborhood, where Around Portland Tours makes its home.

The tour in total is 2-3 miles of walking, with tastes of tea and a snack as well. We always keep groups very small, so you'll have an intimate experience with your passionate guides!

Our guides were great. We had good beer at each stop. We learned about the brewery scene pre and post prohibition.

I was traveling solo for a business trip and had a free afternoon. I was hoping to check out area breweries with fellow beer lovers! I showed up for the tour, and was informed it wasn’t actually on the calendar. They explained La Vacanza Travel might have made it available, even though they had blocked it off, and didn’t have a guide. They were super nice, so I don’t like only giving them 2 stars…but this was an oversight that messed up my afternoon. It was too late to book another experience since it was already a little later in the afternoon. If you do book through La Vacanza Travel…maybe call to confirm there is actually a tour.

Our tour guide Edwin, was super friendly and informative. He provided lots of recommendations. We enjoyed our conversations with him throughout the tour. We enjoyed the breweries we visited. The pizza was delicious, definitely recommend. Chuckanut was our favorite brewery that we visited. Try the Mexican Style Lager, or the Vienna Lager. :)

We had a great time on this tour! We stopped at several great breweries. Tastings were very generous and customizable for guest's tastes. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the city and beer scene.
