This enthralling half-day trip takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Area's most popular National Park Monument to experience the magnificent views of the Giant redwoods during a 90' stop (entrance fee included).

Next, visit the beautiful coastal town of Sausalito, a gorgeous Mediterranean-style village with quaint shops and waterfront restaurants. If a one-hour stop in Sausalito isn't enough for you, you can extend your stay by upgrading your tour to include the Sausalito ferry back to San Francisco.

If you decide to come back by bus and are looking for possibilities to complete your other half-day, we offer you an upgraded option to save money, which includes a 4h Bike rental package from our partner Unlimited Biking (757 Beach Street, San Francisco, CA 94109). The best guide during the ride. However, the woods aren't guided. It's a nature trail that one can do within the stipulated time.

The bus ride to and from the stops was great with no issues. The bus was comfortable and safe. The Muir woods are fantastic and definitely worth a visit, while Sausalito was less enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend the tour to those wanting to experience the Muir woods and areas of SF. However, the plans had changed for some passengers as the ferry had recently crashed and was not running. Despite this being known for some days before the tour we were only informed on the morning of as we boarded the bus. The refund process was efficient and alternatives were provided, but it feels deceptive to not inform customers of a change to the product they purchased.

My tour started from the Union Square pickup location. The tour guide gave some history of the city on our way to the pickup location at Fisherman’s Wharf and throughout the rest of the trip. The first stop was on the far side of the Golden Gate Bridge (leaving SF). Took a few pictures and watched a car thief in a ski mask snatch someone’s belongings from their car (be careful out there!). The 1.5 hours that we had at Muir Woods was good enough for me. I did the long loop out to bridge 4 and back and had plenty of time for buying a gift from the shop after. The one hour in Sausalito was also good enough for me to walk up and down the street and get fish tacos. I didn’t shop at the stores though so if you wanted more time you could stay and take a different ride home. Overall I felt it was worth it.

The scenery was breathtaking as our bus navigated our journey across the Golden Gate Bridge. Stopping immediately after we crossed the bridge provided spectacular photo ops. Having Charlie, our driver, provide historical commentary about the area was priceless and also allowed us to take in all of the beauty of the John Muir Woods without worrying about staying on the road. The 90 minute hike/visit amongst the gigantic redwoods was perfect, and even allowed for a glass of Ghirardelli hot chocolate. We enjoyed walking around Sausalito as our final stop before taking the ferry back to Pier 39. Excellent tour from start to finish.
