Overview

This is a tour of Sensoji Temple and Asakusa Shrine to learn about Buddhism and Shintoism.

The tour starts with a photo shoot on the terrace of the Asakusa Sightseeing Center with Sky Tree in the background. Your guide will also give you advice on sightseeing in Tokyo and help you find tourist attractions!

Next, you will visit the famous sightseeing spot Senso-ji Temple and then Asakusa Shrine. The guide will explain how to visit the temple and its history.

Finally, we will head to Matsuchiyama Shoden Honryuin.
This temple has a unique culture of offering daikon (Japanese radish) and a Japanese garden. Compared to Sensoji Temple, this temple is less crowded and has a more relaxed atmosphere.

On the way to the temple, you can also see the Sky Tree, so you can take pictures with the cityscape!

The shrine is located in a corner of Sensoji Temple.
It is an interesting aspect of Japanese religious culture that a temple and a shrine are mixed in the same place. The differences between temples and shrines can be better understood by comparing the two.

Matsuchiyama Shoden Honryuin is one of the constituent temples of Sensoji. This temple has a unique custom of offering radishes. Symbols of daikon (Japanese radish) and kinchaku (cloth) can be seen throughout the temple grounds.
