Overview

If you want to visit the Stateopera in a SMALL GROUP and hear funny facts about the celebrities of the opera and the ballet, this is your tour!

The tickets are already included in the price. The entrance ONLY is possible at the times specified by the Opera (and it depends on rehearsals & performances). If it is not possible to enter, I can guide you in the House of Music or the Mozart House instead.

The tour starts IN FRONT of the MAIN ENTRANCE of the Opera.

Additionally, we´ll take a walk in the center and I´ll show you where they keep the original recipe of the Sacher cake, where Johann Strauß met his first wife and why there´s a hare statue at the sausage stand next to the museum Albertina.

We´ll also pass near the Capuchin Crypt where the Habsburgs remains rest in peace and end up your tour at the fantastic St. Steven’s Cathedral.

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Wiener Staatsoper, Opernring 2, Vienna 1010 Austria

Vienna has always been the city of music, and the musical heart of the country is the State Opera. Built 150 years ago, it caused a great scandal that even resulted in the death of an architect... We will see the very pompous old part and the modern part, built after the Second World War. We will talk about the stars who had great success on stage, such as Placido Domingo, Montserrat Caballé, Jose Carreras, Gustav Mahler, Herbert von Karajan, Rudolf Nureyev, and Margot Fonteyn. I will explain how the Opera Ball is celebrated, with the participation of millionaires and local politicians, how the stage sets change daily, where they are stored, and how many people in total work for this famous institution. It's going to be very interesting, I promise!

Giselle is lovely, so kind, funny, full of knowledge about history, music and all things Vienna. She is communicative prior to meeting and able to pivot at ease based on client's wishes and interests. Couldn't recommend her more highly for any aspect of Vienna.

Giselle is so lovely, kind, engaging and full of encyclopedic knowledge about the Opera House and Austrian history. Based on what we had already seen in days' prior, she pivoted plans quickly to adapt to our interests and needs within the city center. We traveled with a group ranging in ages from 11 to 75 and she was engaging for all. Lastly, Giselle is hyper responsive and great at communicating before the tour, to make sure you know where to meet. Thank you for a lovely time, Giselle.

My experience with Giselle was very good! Her telling is excellent. I like it how much she is involved into the subject! Every fact, every story she told us, opened the Vienna Opera for me from new sides! Besides she is very pleasant person, it was very nice to talk to her after the excursion, she can give you good tips for other sightseeings in Vienna! Highly recommended, from my experience, you can’t ask for a better guide.

We had a group tour in Vienna state opera, and Giselle could make it interesting for everyone. It was a real pleasure! She knows a lot about Opera and Vienna, but her tour was not formal, she has coloured facts and numbers with funny stories and very positive attitude.
