Formally known as Sir Seewoosagur, the Botanical Garden in Mauritius is one of the most visited attractions in this island country, which is situated just near Port Louis in the Pamplemousse district. It was first opened as a private garden by the French governor who ruled about three centuries ago and later becomes the national botanical garden of the country.
This garden stretches over vast acres of land, where it is said that it would take you more than a week to cover it entirely. It is home to an incredible variety of tropical flora, with many of them being indigenous plants. Specifically, it is populated with more than 650 varieties of plants, among which are palmier Bouteille, baobabs, giant water lilies, a wide array of medicinal plants and spices, and many more. Another main attraction of this botanical garden is the 85 various varieties of palm trees that were introduced to the place from different regions of the world.
For your trip, you can get a guide at the entrance that will provide you a full tour of the garden, which is highly recommended. After all, to make sure you will have the best experience in this place, you should see all the interesting things that it has to offer. (See All: Mauritius holiday packages)
