Grand Bassin, Mauritius
Also called the Ganga Talao, the Grand Bassin is a sacred lake that represents the mighty Ganges River of India and is a favorite attraction among local and foreign tourists in Mauritius. It is beautifully nestled in the mountains of the South West and surrounded by colorful Hindu temples.

The statue of Shiva, known as Mangal Mahadev, stands at 33 meters high making it the third largest statue of Shiva in the world. You will also see a large number of devotees praying to Hindu deities here, offering the gods fruits and vegetables and gently lighting up incense sticks.
