Khalifa International Stadium
Located close to the impressive Aspire Zone (Doha Sports City) built to host the 2006 Asian Games, this is the first of the Qatar World Cup stadiums to be completed.Initially opened in 1976, the latest renovation is in line with its selection as a match venue. The renovated stadium opened on May 19, 2017 and has a seating capacity of 48,000.
Al Wakrah Stadium
This is a planned World Cup venue to be built in Al Wakrah,which is a short distance from Doha. Although a football stadium already exists in the city, it only has a 12,000 seating capacity.The Al Wakrah Stadium, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, will hold 40,000 people and is slated to host games until the quarterfinals. It will be the new home of Al-Wakrah Sports Club once the event is over.
Qatar Foundation Stadium
Another planned stadium in Doha's Education City. It will seat 40,000 people but half of the seats will be removed after the tournament to be donated so that stadiums can be built in developing countries.
Al Bayt Stadium
To be built in the city of Al Khor to the north of Doha, this stadium will have a tent-like structure which honors Qatar's past and present. It will have a capacity of 60,000.
Al Thumama Stadium
Currently, under construction, this stadium will pay tribute to the culture, history, and symbolism of the Al Thumama region. Its design represents the gahfiya, a traditional woven cap worn by Arab males.The stadium, which will seat 40,000, will host matches until the quarterfinals.
Al Rayyan Stadium
This stadium will be built on the site of the existing Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium and the new facade will feature symbols of Qatari culture.The venue will seat 40,000 people and host matches until the quarterfinal stage.
Lusail Iconic Stadium
Another stadium that is currently in progress 15 kilometers north of Doha. It will form the center of the Lusail City project, which feature businesses, parks, and marinas, as well as be home to 200,000 people.It will host both the opening and closing matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
