This was our first visit to Hong Kong and we couldn’t be more happy with the excellent introduction to the city provided by our guide, Amy, from Hong Kong Greeters. We choose the Lantau Island tour because it offered an overview of Hong Kong and a more in depth visit to Lantau Island. Our favorite part of the tour was the visit to the charming fishing village of Tai O. This is a “must see” stop on your visit to Hong Kong! We enjoyed the boat ride in search of “pink dolphins” and the opportunity to relax for coffee and tea at the Tai O Heritage Hotel (a wonderful, secluded boutique hotel overlooking the water). We continued our tour walking through the village, tasting local food and learning about the local history from Amy. Afterward we were driven to Ngong Ping 360 where we visited the Big Buhda and the monastery . The walk up the steps to the Buddha statue is worth the effort and Amy provided excellent commentary inside the museum/memory palace in the base of the statue. Our day ended by taking the cableway to Tung Chung (beautiful view, even though it was a bit hazy) and then back to the ship by car. We had a wonderful time! Finally, please note the following: 1) this is an excellent tour to take from a cruise ship (easy pick-up and drop-off from the port) 2) when in Hong Kong you should visit Tai O. Because of entry restrictions, this is one of the few ways to see it by car. 3) transportation is first class. 4) most importantly, Amy is an outstanding guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and sets a flexible and easy pace. Thanks again! We will be back next year.

Amy was such a great host/guide. Our driver Ken picked us up in a clean and comfortable vehicle. We then ventured to the Tai O fishing village where we got a locals experience. We then made our way to the Big Buddha then to the Ngong Ping 360. The entire trip was met with a warm welcome and friendly conversation. Highly recommend, especially with children. We will be back Amy and Ken!

We had a fantastic time on our tour. Amy was absolutely wonderful! We are a family of four (children, ages 11 and 15). Amy was punctual and our driver, Ken, was very courteous. We visited parts of Hong Kong that we would not have otherwise experienced. Amy taught us so much about the sites, religion, and the people. Our tour included a cool glass bottom cable car ride to visit the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, followed by an authentic Chinese lunch at a vegetarian restaurant (based on our preference). We then took a boat ride over to the Tao O Fishing Village, a unique place where the houses are built on stilts in the water. We strolled through the village while Amy shared intriguing stories about its inhabitants and rich history. Truly a day well spent!!

Amy and I began our day out at the Ngong. Ping cable car which afforded us fabulous views over the islands and mountainous terrain with Amy pointing out places of interest including the new Macau Road tunnel. We then made our way leisurely through the Ngong Ping village, browsing in the shops and visiting the temples. Amy was very knowledgeable about these wonderful buildings and told me about the history of the figures and decorations. We then went to the big Buddha which sadly we couldn’t climb up to because the steps were being renovated. We then took a bus down the mountain,to the Tai`O fishing village. This is like a step back in time and is a delightful and picturesque place to visit with quaint, narrow streets full of stalls and little shops where everyone seemed to know Amy. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in a small café overlooking the river that I would never have found, but Amy knew the owner and we were royally treated. Amy is a very friendly tour guide who is informative and makes everything interesting for you. I can’t recommend her highly enough as you will enjoy a fabulous time with this lady!
