Overview

Feel closer to nature at London Zoo, a ZSL conservation zoo in the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant capital cities. Discover amazing wildlife, learn how we're protecting their future and share incredible memories of our leaping, roaring, squawking natural world.

Set in leafy Regent's Park amid heritage-listed buildings and beautiful gardens, London Zoo is an oasis in the heart of the capital with over 15,000 amazing animals to discover.

Visit: London Zoo, Regents Park Outer Circle, London NW1 4RY England

The Zoo’s biggest experience, Land of the Lions, gives you the chance to get closer than ever before to the mighty Asiatic lions. You can explore walkways covering the 2,500sqm Indian-themed exhibit.

Come face-to-face with one of nature’s most awesome predators in Tiger Territory, learn about the natural behaviours of Sumatran tigers and discover the conservation issues these creatures face in the wild.

Tiny Giants is a celebration of all things small but mighty, and the sometimes strange but always wonderful world of invertebrates. Also home to a new coral reef tank, this indoor experience is one not to be missed.

You’ll love heading down to the beach to watch our colony of Humboldt penguins dive, swim, frolic and feed in England's largest penguin pool, complete with large underwater viewing windows. And step Into Africa to observe the elegance and grace of the giraffes before moving on to the magnificent residents of Gorilla Kingdom.

The zoo was lovely and well kept in most places. Lots of animals to see and go into the indoor / outdoor habitat to see where the animal may be. Zoo was well signposted and easy to navigate The only two down points were 1. Some of the water areas for the animals looked half empty and considering the amount of rain we have had that was quite surprising 2. Children- the amount of children running around, screaming and the parents not keeping an eye on them was mad. It is distracting when signs says to be quiet or not bang on the windows to respect the animals and it is ignored.

I’ve been to many zoos around the world, some excellent, some not so good- but London Zoo has to be the worst. The enclosures were overgrown, dirty and rundown. Many of the old concrete structures from less enlightened times still exist which makes for depressing and unsuitable environments for animals and humans alike. A high percentage of the enclosures were empty. Parrot cages were small. Tiger and lion enclosures were tatty and overgrown. Primates were few. It would be interesting to know just how many animals the zoo actually has. Penguins seemed to have the best accommodation package - large mammals the losers as usual. Saw more wildlife in the toilets which were utterly disgusting. As the zoo attached to our capital city, it is a shameful representation of how this country curates a zoo. A pity because we have sone very good animal parks around the country. Perhaps time for this zoo of almost 200 years to either make BIG changes or call it a day. Times have changed.

Went for the day and managed to stay for 5 - 6 hours. Every animal is worth visiting, so make sure you plan time accordingly! Being able to walk with animals freely was the highlight of the trip. Best part is every monkey enclosure, and there was quite alot. The only downside was the lack of food options, and the ones they had were overpriced with lack of options. (bring packed lunch.)

My wife, daughter and I had a great time visiting London Zoo for the first time. The zoo is kept clean and the staff are friendly and knowledgable. Great easter egg hunt for the kids to find letters which spell out a code word which has biological/conservation significance. We loved many of the enclosures, especially the tiger, lion and penguin enclosures. Gorillas were amazing to watch their interaction with one another and we were privileged to visit when one of the female gorillas had a young gorilla with her. We also loved watching the volunteers and zoo keepers interacting with the penguins when they were shovelling soft sand around the perimeter of the penguins' pool. Butterfly inflatable house is excellent to walk into and watch the butterflies fly around; zoo restaurant is excellent, especially their pizzas which are made fresh in front of you; reptile and amphibian house is great to walk around as is the rainforest section housing the sloths and fruit bats (although obviously awful warm and humid). Not much for me to say with regard to improvements that could be made; Id only comment that its probably not a good idea to allow the leaf cutter ants to have free access to ropes which are outside their enclosure, especially since no member of staff is there to advise people not to band into the ropes. I doubt anyone would want a few leaf cutter ants going down their collars or into their hair.

Went to London zoo on 3/4/2024. We enjoyed seeing the animals. Especially the baby gorilla. We missed a lot of animals today due to getting a bit confused about which way we should be walking and ended up working around the same place a couple of times. Cage was too busy. Would have been great if there was a couple more stands outside to pick up things like a hotdog etc.
