We visited the Queens Galley on the 21st of march 2024 , while the expert of the exhibition and the exhibition itself was fantastic! so well done on that part, we felt that the visitors service staff were very unwelcoming on arrival , while we understood the importance of the bag checks and security, it was not handled in a friendly manner. I think there is room for improvement.
This was the first time I’d visited the Queen’s Gallery. I went to see the Holbein exhibition. I chose a Thursday afternoon in the hope it would be quiet, and it was. I spent almost two hours there looking in close up detail at all the paintings, listening to the informative (and free) headset narratives and having a generally self-indulgent time! It was great. A really friendly gallery, well set out with a clear and logical flow. I really liked it and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.
The exhibition is excellent, although do go first thing when it is quieter. You can get very close to the art and see the exquisite details. The facilities are great, and the shop is reasonably priced. I must say the staff are excellent, very helpful, kind, and welcoming.
A very disappointing experience! 19 pounds for 3 rooms with Holbein's paintings, the most famous of which are taken from other residences. A waste of time and money. Don't let yourselves fooled - like we did - by words like Buckingham Palace or the Queen's Gallery!
The exhibition is amazing, beautifully curated with so many amazing portraits. The two members of staff that I spoke to were really helpful, the lady who let me in 10 minutes early as there was no queue and the lady who stamped my ticket when I went back. Which leads me to the negative. 1. I wasn't asked when I presented my ticket if I would like it stamped. A friend of mine didn't even realise you could get admission free the next year. It would've been nice to have been told at least on admission. 2. There were no directions once inside the exhibition for those of us not taking the audio tour. Unfortunately I have sensitive ears because I am neurodivergent, so I didn't want the audio tour and because of this I missed a whole room, maybe 2 which is a shame and I don't want to use my ticket to go back, even if it is to see Charlotte's wedding dress. 3. Staff inside the gallery were more interested in gossiping between rooms than acknowledging you as you walk past without headphones.
