Overview

Visit the most important D-Day sites in Normandy on this small-group day trip from Paris. You'll walk on Omaha Beach, go inside of German bunkers, visit the Overlord Museum, peer over the 110ft tall seaside cliffs at the Pointe du Hoc, and pay your respects to those who sacrificed it all at the American Cemetery. In order to bring a little sweetness to your visit you also enjoy a local Normandy Hard Cider tasting.

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Omaha Beach, Avenue de la Liberation, Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France

Omaha Beach was known to be the most difficult military objective when the invasion of Normandy was being planned. In order to be sure that the Allied forces took it the youngest and most foolhardy soldiers were assigned to it, most of them were American. You'll walk on the same sands as them and learn about their acts of heroism and sacrifice.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Overlord Museum - Omaha Beach, Rond-Point d'acces du Cimetiere Americain Lotissement Omaha Center, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France

Operation Overlord was the code name given to the Allied Invasion of northwest Europe. This museum has an unequaled collection of military equipment that was used to either defend or attack the coast of Normandy. Such as a full-sized authentic Higgins boat, with its front flap down, and impressive Sherman and Panzer tanks.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer, West of Arromanches-les-Bains, Longues-sur-Mer France

This German Battery has a fully intact Command Bunker and 3 other bunkers that are still armed with huge 150 mm guns today. You'll climb inside the bunkers with your guide and find out what happened on the morning of D-day from the Axis perspective. Learning about Rommel's defenses known as the "Atlantic Wall".

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Domaine de l’Hostréière, 77 Rte du Cimetiere Americain, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer, France

For lunch, you will stop at a mom-and-pop style restaurant such as the l'Hostéière. On the coast, there are no fancy restaurants. There are only little places with fresh local foods such as salads, omelets, barbecued meats, and crepes. We do not include your lunch in our tour price. You can pick whatever you want from the menu. Plan on spending 10-20€.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Pointe du Hoc, 14450 Cricqueville-en-Bessin France

The Pointe-du-Hoc was a strategic German defensive point that had huge guns pointed towards both Omaha and Utah Beaches. On D-day, it was a top priority to capture. Here you will walk around huge bomb craters to the edge of a 110ft tall, seaside cliff. Learn how Rudders Rangers climbed it with rocket-powered grappling hooks and their bayonets.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France

Here 9,388 white marble tombs stand in perfectly straight lines. You'll walk among the Crosses and Stars of David with your guide and pay your respects to those who sacrificed everything. You'll visit Medal of Honor winners and also the Niland brothers whose real-life story inspired the movie "Saving Private Ryan".

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ferme de la Sapiniere, 12 route de Port en Bessin, 14710 Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France

Before there was a war there were apple trees to tend in Normandy. The apple orchards in Normandy grow dozens of different varieties of apples and turn them into amazing apple juices, hard ciders, and strong liquor called Calvados. We'll stop at one of the local orchards and you'll get to taste some of Normandy’s famous Cider. We’ll pay for your tasting.

Many including the small towns near the landings. All stops were excellent. Omaha beach was very emotional as was the rangers and the cemetery.

Our guide, Bruno, was very nice (and the only reason the review is as high as a three) BUT our “tour” was basically being driven to Normandy to several stops and to a cider tasting. There was very little explanation of the sites we were seeing other than our reading placards at the sites. For an English language only guide his command of the English language was lacking. We chose Blue Fox because friends had told us what a wonderful experience they had and how knowledgeable their guide was. We believe Bruno can be a great guide but the company sent him out without adequate training. For what we paid we felt shortchanged.

Great experience! We chose to go with an experienced company and Blue Fox didn’t disappoint. Simon was great and got us around to all the sites in a very easy going style. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend this tour enough! The entire day was amazing. It was the best part of our trip to Paris! Aaron was our tour guide and he was phenomenal! He has so much knowledge about D-Day and Canadas part, you can tell he truly enjoys and loves his job!

We found the experience to be bitterly disappointing. We expected a day full of interesting and informative information about D-Day. What we received was little more than a van ride. The driver made no attempt during the drive to engage with us. I believe our experience at the American cemetery best sums up our experience. We arrived a little over an hour before the cemetery closed. The driver's guidance was merely that we had an hour of free time. When we entered the museum an attentive security guard pointed out that the flag retirement ceremony was taking place and perhaps we would like to see that. We hurried to the ceremony only catching the last few minutes. When we returned to the van the driver told us he tries to get the tour to the cemetery for this ceremony but he did not tell us about the ceremony prior to arriving at the cemetery. As this will probably be our only opportunity to visit this historic site we feel that the experience provided was very poor. The driver indicated that this was his first solo attempt giving this tour. He exhibited little interest or knowledge of the events that transpired on this important day in world history.
