Overall the guide was amazing. Can't remember his name off hand but he was originally from NY so his insight connected with our group really well.

We were the only ones on our tour, so essentially it was a private tour, where we had the opportunity to linger at sites that interested us as long as we desired before moving on. Our lovely tour guide did a fantastic job of describing the hustle and bustle of the ancient city as it was during its glory days, giving us so much history and tidbits of fascinating information. At the end of the tour, we were able to remain inside the grounds to our hearts desire and take in the splendor of this area.

My wife and I knew this would be quick tour of these two spots, but booked it as the price was right and we'd already booked two other more costly tours in Rome. However, this tour turned out to be a travesty! The guide was from England, and we're American, but his patter was so rushed and hard to understand, and it was made worse by the distortion of the voice through the earpiece we were using. He also forged ahead facing forward, as we hurriedly tried to snake through the crowds of tourists, and didn't bother to look back to make sure we were all there, or, to turn to us to carefully explain what we were about to see or where we were going. He never checked to see if we were all together, and never asked if we had any questions. He actually fielded a few phone calls from the main office, who informed him that he had left a few tourists behind!. It was as if he was in his own head, talking to himself. I even tried to tell him I couldn't hear him/that he was racing along, but he just steamrolled through. We can't even remember one factoid about either the Forum or Palatine, and the only redeeming experience from the whole thing was we had a lovely conversation afterwards with some tourists from Montana. I tried making eye contact with other tourists during the tour to commiserate , but they seemed not to care. If La Vacanza Travel is offering a one-hour express tour, but the only way to do it is with this guy or rushing through it, they shouldn't do it. Frankly, we'd like a refund, but requesting customer service on this site to address complaints is non-existent. You guys need to do a much better job of quality control. Thank goodness the EatingItaly Food tour was diametrically opposite in quality!
