Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes

Pass By: Palazzo Pitti, Piazza Dei Pitti 1, 50125, Florence Italy

Visit this historic palace, which became the main home of the ruling families of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. It was the centre of government for the 300 years that Tuscany was a monarchy. Later the palace was used as a base by Napoleon. During the Risorgimento, for a short time it was the royal palace of the newly united Italy.

Pass By: Ponte Vecchio, 50125, Florence Italy

Walk through Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge noted for the shops built along it.

Pass By: Campanile di Giotto, Piazza del Duomo Historical Center, 50122, Florence Italy

Admire a free-standing campanile that is part of the complex of buildings that make up Florence Cathedral.
The unusual position of the bell tower, aligned with the facade, reflects the desire to give it great importance as a sign of strong verticality at the center of the Insula Episcopalis, as well as probably the practical need to free the view of the apse area for the large dome, foreseen since Arnolfian project. Giotto provided an original design for the bell tower, with a pyramidal cusp termination 50 Florentine arms high (about 40 metres), according to which the total elevation should have been approximately 120-125 metres. A drawing preserved in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Siena is considered by some scholars to be inspired by this project.

Pass By: Piazza della Signoria, 50122, Florence Italy

Walk through this square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio, also shared with the Loggia della Signoria. It is the main point of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic and gateway to Uffizi Gallery.

Pass By: Basilica of Santa Croce, Piazza Santa Croce 16, 50122, Florence Italy

Walk through this square where you can admire Basilica di Santa Croce, one of the largest Franciscan churches and one of the greatest Gothic achievements in Italy, and has the rank of minor basilica. It is an Italian national monument.

Pass By: Galleria Palatina in Palazzo Pitti, Amici di Palazzo Pitti Piazza Pitti 1, 50125, Florence Italy

Visit Palatine Gallery, is a museum housed in Palazzo Pitti in Florence. Housed within the architectural complex, it is located on the main floor, divided into 28 rooms that extend into the rear northern lateral wing of the architectural complex and into the northern lateral part and central rear part of the main building of the palace.

This is the "picture gallery" of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany: the layout in fact respects the taste of past centuries, with the paintings placed in several rows, selected for decorative criteria, and not by period and schools. Chronologically, with a few exceptions, the paintings mainly cover the 16th and 17th centuries, making it one of the most important museums of its kind in Italy, as well as an obligatory stop for learning about the history of European collecting.

Pass By: Basilica di San Lorenzo, Piazza di San Lorenzo 9, 50123, Florence Italy

Walk through Basilica of San Lorenzo, one of the main Catholic places of worship in Florence, located in the square of the same name in the historic center of the city. It is one of the churches that compete for the title of the oldest in the city and has the dignity of a minor basilica[1]. The San Lorenzo market is held near the church.

Pass By: Piazza del Mercato Centrale, 50136, Florence Italy

Visit Central Market, one of the results from the time of risanamento, during the late nineteenth century. Inside, is possible to find primary ingredients of Tuscan cuisine, fruits and vegetable stands as well as nuts and spices. Outside, you can find leather goods.

The Viva is a gorgeous new ship but to be avoided if you want to eat at the times you want and if you want to see entertainment and if you want to share a table in the dining rooms. The buffet on 17 offers food on only one side, which creates long lineups, and it's impossible to find a table in the impossibly-crowded eating area, which is like a shopping mall the day before Christmas. The two dining rooms (Hudson's and Commodore) are too small, so unless you arrive for dinner before 5:30, you're given a beeper and need to wait 30 minutes to an hour for a table. Also, sharing a table to meet other cruisers, which we always enjoy, is not on offer on the Viva. The entertainment venues, including the theatre and the bars around the ship, are so small that unless you arrive extremely early, you can't get in or need to stand for the entire performance. In short, the Viva's buffet layout, dining rooms and entertainment venues rank far, far below any other cruise ship of similar size. We would never travel on the Viva again.

Lovely Alexandria our guide delivered a lot of information under pressure with a large group running late because our ship was delayed. I was impressed with the knowledge and his ability to speak so many languages the tour covered quite a distance in Florence and the. Pisa. I would recommend this tour.

The busses were very easy to find and well organised. Left on time- no fuss. The bus was very clean and comfy. When arriving in Florence, the bus parks a few blocks away for the centre and you walk the rest of the way which isn’t far. You do need to remember where the bus is parked for when you leave. We had a choice of a walking tour or by ourselves. We chose by ourselves as there were too many people in the walking tour for our personal liking. We were given a map to see the highlights. Pisa was the next stop and it was a fair walk from where the busses are allowed to park to where the sites are, but we knew this before we booked. Both Florence and Pisa were some of our favourite places on our holiday. Definitely places not to be missed and this company do a good job looking after so many guests.

Visiting Florence and Pisa all in the same day was a wonderful experience. Our tour leader Sara was hospitable, caring and informative. She led us through the narrow streets of Florence with ease pointing out the various sights and provided a short history. Sara assured us that we would arrive back to the ship on time and delivered on her promise by delivering us directly to the ship. Definitely a great experience that I recommend for all ages.

What a dud. It seemed this was the tour guide's first time, fumbling and unprepared. He handed around a piece of paper with his own phone number and it wasn't complete. Flat jokes that only he laughed at. Incessant, feeble attempts and only his oddball laugh: it gets on your nerves pretty quick and you're trapped on a bus for more than three hours of driving. Didn't know how to mute the mic so frivolous mumbling was part of the audio. He stated the bus was secure and guests could leave items in their seats: upon return, the first back on moved to seats with with other people's belongings. Rather than sort the issue, he limply stated "you're all adults" leaving guests trying to recover their stuff with a holdup in the aisle and trying to find new seats, displacing someone else. Obviously learning nothing, said the same thing at the next stop. We picked the tour because it was significantly lower in price than our cruise offering; in hindsight, the savings weren't worth it.
