Florence's Duomo is the city's most iconic landmark. Capped by Filippo Brunelleschi's red-tiled cupola, it's a staggering construction whose breathtaking pink, white and green marble facade and graceful campanile dominate the Renaissance cityscape. Sienese architect Arnolfo di Cambio began work on it in 1296, but construction took almost 150 years and it wasn't consecrated until 1436.

Piazza della Signoria is located halfway between the Duomo and the River Arno and represents, together with the Palace of the same name, the heart of Florence political life; the Square is L-shaped and is the result of different architectural interventions as well as the place where every day, thousands of tourists meet to visit the Fountain of Neptune, the Loggia della Signoria and that centuries-old Palace of course with in front the copy of David of Michelangelo.

The Basilica shelters the tombs of Michelangelo, Machiavelli, and Galileo and it is also known for its frescoes by masters such as Giotto. Piazza Santa Croce is one of the main squares located in the central neighborhood of Florence with the famous Leather Market. It is located near Piazza della Signoria and the National Central Library.
