Stop At: Villa Adriana, Villa Adriana, Tivoli, Province of Rome, Lazio

This enchanting day trip from Rome begins with a 40-minute bus ride to Hadrian’s Villa. The vastness of Hadrian’s estate is a sight that will surely impress. The Emperor chose to build his residence outside the city in a place rich in water, in order to build the famous Canopus, one of the most preserved sites left in the complex. The statues surrounding this pool of water create stunning reflections on its surface, beautifully surrounded by luscious green gardens

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Pass By: Villa Adriana, Largo Marguerite Yourcenar 1, 00019, Tivoli Italy

A short bus ride brings you to Tivoli town center – where you will have time to explore and enjoy lunch before the next walking tour

Stop At: Villa d'Este, Piazza Trento 5, 00019, Tivoli Italy

We will leave the alluring ruins of the 2nd century A.D. far behind as we travel on to the 14th century to our second destination, Villa d’Este - one of the most beautiful Renaissance villas in Italy. This splendid palace, with its extraordinary gardens filled with hundreds of fountains, will leave you feeling captivated. Bernini’s monumental Neptune’s Fountain is considered the most impressive, its water jets reaching a height of 10 meters. Not to say that the Central Fountain and the Oval Fountain won’t leave you equally in awe

Whistle stop tour of hadrians villa which may have been slightly shorter than normal as we were delayed leaving rome due to a demonstration on the day of the tour, but covered key highlights to give context. Paid the extra for lunch with our trip and food was beautiful at a local trattoria in Tivoli. Just enough time at villa d'este to appreciate the gardens and fountains. Good taster of both locations and tour walking pace was good not too fast. While you could spend much longer at both locations it was a good overview and introduction to the sites to help decide that they would be worth visiting in more depth in the future.

Giuseppe our guide is a Tivoli local who gave great insight to the history of the entire area. The villa and grounds are beautiful and layered with history.

I was very interested to see Hadrian's Villa, Love Roman history, especially concerning how things were built. Our guide was informative, but perfunctory. Little bit pedantic even. Unfortunately unable to really answer my questions regarding the structure in more than a vague way. But still overall enjoyed the tour

Joseph was an excellent tour guide. He shared so much historical information, and we thoroughly enjoyed the scenery. Lunch was outstanding! Between my wife and I, we took over 400 pictures. What an incredible experience and memory we have created.
