Overview

The world-famous Colosseum is a monument that must not be missed by anyone in Rome and this express guided tour is the perfect way to see it.
From its imposing façade to its complex interior, the Colosseum, formerly known as the Flavian amphitheater, is a truly amazing example of Ancient Roman architecture.
You will see the monumental structure as the gladiators did, entering through their exclusive gate. Then look down into the underground corridors where wild beasts were kept before the shows from the second floor of the amphitheater.
You will learn about its complicated construction, diverse usage, and social importance while hearing compelling stories of gladiators and spectators, and of the times when the amphitheater was at its most important.
When you have left the Colosseum your guide will escort you to the archaeological complex of the Forum and Palatine Hill where you can wander through the stunning ruins at your own pace.

Very disorganized from the beginning. It was very busy (Easter Monday), but two young ladies checking in hoards of people for four different tour companies with no form of ques just meant for mayhem. Finally we were all told that our 10 am tour time had been changed to 11 am or 1:30 pm. They said we had all been emailed about the change but no one had been. Lots of upset people who had other plans in the afternoon. No reason given. We returned at the later time and there still seemed to be a lot of disorganization so our tour started late. We had Olga as a guide and she was pleasant but not exuberant or engaging. Just delivered fact after fact about the history etc. It was interesting but made for a long 3 hours. Plus the crowds were large and we waited quite a while to go through security twice. Palentine Hill section seemed a bit too long for our liking. Overall we were glad to see the Colosseum but an audio guide may have suited us more. And the delayed start time really messed up our day.
