The Taj Mahal, also known as the 'Crown of the Palace', is a breathtaking ivory-white marble mausoleum located on the right bank of the river Yamuna in Agra, India. This magnificent structure was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in honor of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who had passed away. The tomb is not only the final resting place of Mumtaz Mahal but also that of Shah Jahan himself. The Taj Mahal is surrounded by a 17-hectare (42-acre) complex, complete with a mosque and a guest house, all of which are set within beautifully manicured formal gardens enclosed by a crenellated wall on three sides. The Taj Mahal stands as a symbol of love, devotion, and architectural brilliance and remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in India.
