The Taj Mahal  'Crown of the Palace' is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the right bank of the river Yamuna in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (r. 1628–1658) to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal; it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. The tomb is the centerpiece of a 17-hectare (42-acre) complex, which includes a mosque and a guest house, and is set in formal gardens bounded on three sides by a crenellated wall.

Vinny from Agra was my tour guide. I was a little bummed that it was foggy but Vinny made this an amazing experience and the best birthday I could ask for! Seeing the Taj Mahal in person is the only way to truly appreciate the beauty of it. Pictures and videos of it do not do it justice. The king’s palace and fort was also spectacular, especially the place where the king was held as a prisoner for eight years. Our guide, Sumit Chaurasia, was the best guide that we had on our whole journey. He spoke excellent English and thoroughly knew the history of the palace and Taj Mahal. He is also an excellent photographer, as he took a number of pictures of my wife and I that came out perfect. I highly recommend Mr. Chaurasia and suggest that when you book this tour through La Vacanza Travel (TripAdvisor), you ask specifically for him. At the end of the tour he asks if you would like to go to a carpet factory that produces hand made wool carpets. We have purchased several carpets as we travel Asia, and the company he brings you to has exceptional carpets and the very best prices. I like to haggle when in the Middle East and Asia, but there really was no need for it. It was the absolute best price and includes shipping (one week delivery) to the US. Some things to know though, this tour does not include the price of the ticket. It is only for the tour guide and pick up and drop off from your hotel. You will need to buy the tickets for the Taj Mahal and Palace/Fort either online or at the gate. BUY THEM ONLINE, as there can be hour long lines to get the tickets. Also, try to go in the morning, because there are less people. By the afternoon it will be very crowded and harder to take pictures. We have seen six of the seven wonders of the world and this truly is one of the very best ones. If you have a chance to see it, you should. If you are looking for an excellent tour, use this site and ask for Mr. Chaurasia. You will not be disappointed.

Bought tickets,bc the ad is NOT clear and I thought it included tickets. Secondly we specifically asked could the driver pick us up at 5.30am,I txt at 5.22am and he didn’t reply so we walked to the Taj Mahal. At 5.43am the guy msgd saying he was at our hotel,we explained we’d already left and not to bother meeting us. He then harassed us saying he wouldn’t get paid (HOW?? Trip advisor took my money,I paid nearly $40) and told me I could pay what I wanted (again,I’d already paid!!!))) so we stood in line for an hour and tried to scan our tickets but yup-they’re NOT tickets to the Taj they’re just a tour guide. By this time I was tired and stressed and gave up. Waste of money and time and so disappointing
